good comprehensive review

having just upgraded from a TrackIR1 to a TrackIr3 Pro i totally agree with your conclusion, the upgrade for users of the original unit is well worth while .. the new unit is more responsive and far less sensitive to background light and overall more "user friendly"

Perhaps you could help me? I'm sold on the Track Ir system & own the TrackIR2,but recently moved my PC with FB & Track IR to a much more brightly lit ( incandescent lighting) room & now having problems unless the room is made pretty dark.My question is does Track IR3 solve this problem- if soI might just have to order it....?????

You need to download the latest rev of the software... And in doing so you can set the threshhold of the IR to a higher setting and that should do the trick. Yes your TIR2 supports this feature.

I upgraded to a TIR3 Pro and yes it's slightly better but I'm not sure it justifies the purchase IMO.

For real this new feature is supported in the software and it works great on both versions.

Good luck

From TIR2 to TIR 3 Pro? Not sure, but I just upgraded from TIR1 to a 3 Pro and while it's the same basic mechanism, the responsiveness and smoothness are noticable. There are a number of other little niceties also. Like the multi-positionable base (better suited for LCD mounting), the multiple sensors, longer USB cable and the better reflective dots ( I still say make your own though ).

In addition to getting a newer version of an already good product, you can pass your older one to a friend to expose them to the TIR goodness. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Tir3 is definitely better than Tir1 with background light but never tried 2.

Another handy bonus of Tir3pro over Tir1 is the indicator that reminds you if you are in mouse or enhanced mode

I may be late on this - just purchased the Track IR 3 from a different post for a reasonable discount then like a dope I read your full review & saw it actually has a slowere FPS than my present Track IR2- how can this be -I thought it was an improvement in operation : Smoother, clearer ( better taste , easy on the mouth & lungs etc.?)Am I wrong ? Should I leave it in the box & order the Track IR3 Pro,istead with its 120 FPS? I don't want to miss any of the action as I crack up on the deck of the Lexington in a month or two.....

James, the unit you are buying is indeed the PRO version with 120 fps, fear not! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
