Now I'm not talking about having a commando with an AK running around, but I was wondering if you think we'll ever see any characters with like powder pistols/rifles that they use for skills or mix into their combos for unblockables, and of course for cool executions. Something like a musketeer character who carries a rapier, or a buccaneer with a cutlass.

I find it curious that in this world we have apparently mastered blasting powder (as seen in the forge) but nobody has mastered cannons :P

what the hell is the blasting powder for!?

We've definitely seen the suggestion a lot from players who want to see pirates in the game. Personally, the concept is interesting. However, some players have an issue with seeing them introduced into the game, since the combat revolves heavily around melee-based combat.

Absolutely not. This is a feudal/medieval era hack and slash arena fighter game. Not Deadliest Warrior. If you want guns, go play Assassins Creed, or any of the hundreds of shooter games. No pirates, no cowboys, no guns. I don't care if they are 90 second cooldown, low power flintlock wrist blasters. No. Guns.

Pirates fighting on land to raid/defend a castle, fort, or village? Do they even know what makes a pirate a pirate?

Gladiators fighting on land to raid/defend a castle, fort, or village? Do they even know what makes a gladiator a gladiator?

There you go, I fixed that for you.

I find the idea of a pirate stupid aswell dont worry alarming virus. But let them ask for it i suppose, and anything ranged in this game annoys the hell out of me, let alone guns hahhaha

Why Not a Samurai Ashigaru?
He would fit the look and even the Timeline.
Given Assassins Creed 3 and 4 melee combat with a gun wouldn't look to bad either.

But please no Ranged Combat!!!

Yeah ranged combat was definitely a no-go in this scenario. The idea was just for them to be used in, like, unblockable animations or to be used like the Bow ability.

No, I don't think adding guns into this game is a good idea. There are plenty of other games with guns you can play if you like that.

First guns are very old and from the medieval era actually :
- the Ming dynasty was using hand canons especially against the Mongols _ XIII-XIV century
- the culverin which was used as soon as the 100 years war _ XIV-XV century

Also all characters already have some range attacks being in their combos or in their abilities, from blades to grenades, so having an ability allowing the use of some primitive handcanon for the current classes or a new one shouldn't be such an immersion breaking.

this isn't marvel vs DC, don't ever add guns to this game or complete fist only characters it would disrupt the gameplay even more than it already is.

I must confess I have tongue in cheek asked for a pirate to settle the pirate vs ninja debate (older than the internet >.>) but guns in a regular attack, even as an unblockable, wouldn't work. You can parry unblockables, there is no parrying a bullet, the only way it is viable is if you were able to stop them aiming and they shouldn't be that close to allow it to happen in the first place. A feat maybe but it seems a good way ahead of the technology that the current heroes are using. We know they have explosives from the story missions and the feats like fire flask but I kind of think if they had guns then the current heroes would be using them.

The guns you're thinking of (pirates of the carribean like) is not widely used before the XVIII century, it's a one shot or a 2 shots at best without having to reload and was not reliable even a few feet away... Hence pirates love for blades.

The 6 shots cowboy guns aren't widely used before the XIX century, thus more likely never to appear into the game.

Yet a class with an ability to use a hand canon could totally be added to the game considering the current content.

Finally I'd love to see an arabian faction being added with a berberian pirate using a cimitar and a hook maybe ^^

Unless you are a shinobi and want to spam ranged attacks. You gave them range. Might as well make pirates with Flint lock pistols (just give them two shots and the aim must be manual plus they stand still and cannot defend themselves. Shot causes bleed damage).

Why not just put tachanka in??? NOTHING COULD GO WRONG WITH THAT....

I think a rapier wielding musketeer class that uses a musket or pistol as a feat could be cool, giving it the same damage as a valk javelin maybe. Would be a good assassin type perhaps, with reflex blocking and bleeding pokes. Certainly can't have powder weapons be the primary weapon, as the reload time alone would take up a significant chunk of match time where you're just standing still loading your weapon, not to mention how broken he'd be in a melee focused game.

Slander! We Samurai can slice bullets in half in mid air with our Katana's :D

I was thinking, and I didn't know how the Musketeer with such a light weapon would manage heavy attacks, but he could actually use the butt of his musket for heavy/zone attacks.

Also the idea I had was that if you were to parry an unblockable gun attack your character would simply deflect the gun as it was firing, and the kick would throw them off balance.

i dont think it would go very well with the flow of the game. pirates are awesome and they are often depicted with swords but guns would be a bit off. i already dislike the bows/javelin feats in 4v4 and ninjas imo were a mistake.

you could have it that he can't do a heavy attack, but using the heavy attack button causes them to lunge further (thus distance of attack is increased).

Would also like to see them do an action which binds opponents blade and pushes them to the side thus you are behind your enemy for a quick poke.

Executions would also be excellent as well as their counter attacking actions (I am a sport fencer so would love the **** out of a class like this!)

Yeah, and lets add it to Knights, who else.
Also cavemen, they are ancestors of Romans who are ancestors of Knights who will be ancestors of Pirates...
You see how idiotic it is?

I think any pirate class would actually go to the vikings.

The ranged weapons we have already are not entirely reliable. The Samurai Longbow has become a feat that I don't use anymore because I somehow miss when I shouldn't. Bows are meant to hit enemies, accurately, at medium-long range or out of reach for a sword, yet I miss a slow moving enemy going left to right within 10 feet of me or going up a ladder. I think Ubi needs to improve the bows in the game before ever considering guns.

yep
I'd rather have real knights not ancestors.

We can all see how extremely fun the ballistas are.... It really adds another awesome dimension to the game. Being one shotted from a ballista machine gun is really what this game needed.
