Hi folks;

I just bought AEP (already downloaded and installed the latest patches 2.01 and 2.04 for it) and i liked it pretty much, Oleg and his team really made a nice work and i can't wait for the PF. Well, after some analysis of the AEP i saw some minor errors i would like to suggest to be fixed in the new patches/updates... Here are they:

- Better low speed ground handling for nose gear airplanes like the ME-262 (as the nose gear is controlled by the pedals that also controls the rudder, the aircraft with it equipped doesn't need to use much brakes or "wind over the rudder" techniques to make turns. Actually the aircraft "ignores" the nose gear and slides over it, wathever is it's position wich is unrealistic, once that the turned wheel make atrict and that forces the plane to turn towards the selected direction).
- Fix the unrealistic night sky (actually with one of the sides iluminated without a reason).
- Fix the unrealistic high altitude sky. I have one friend that flew in a Cessna Citation X at 60.000 ft and he told me that the color of the sky still normal, and he couldn't see stars as in the simulator. I also saw a SR-71 movie were, at about 80.000 feet, the sky is very dark, so i believe the darkness might start at about 70.000 ft...
- Realistic panel lighting. As Somebody said in the forum sometime ago, in the WWII epoque
there weren't much panels with green ilumination as in the game actually.
- Earth smoke effects at so clean pavimented airfields. Very unrealistic.
- In all IL-2 airplane versions, you can select any skin but, from the cockpit view, the nose part of the aircraft is aways green.

I know that some people may or not agree with my suggestions... Well, this is a forum and i just want to see IL-2 "as real as it get's" instead of MS Flight Simulators. Before somebody call me a whiner and tell me that i'm wrong because i used the new sim version for a short time and i'm already asking for changes, i just want to say that i really apreciate Oleg/1C/Ubisoft work and profissionalism and i know they are dedicating a lot of time for the sim, with few hours of sleep as Oleg said, and i believe the changes i suggested can be fixed easier than others they are already making (i hope). I also believe that these suggestions can only make the game better than it already is, never worse...

Thanks for the opportunity and congratulations again.

Hi again;

Just found another little bug... I made some stall tests with various aircrafts including the P-39 wich is one of the most critical aircraft for stalls and i noticed that, even in a flat spin aparently irrecoverable by the player, you just need to turn the autopilot on and it recovers normally. I started a flat spin with the P-39 at 5000 meters and i tried everything to stop it... Rudder in the oposite direction to the spin, stick foward... Nothing worked, only the autopilot... Oh, and all simulator settings are set for max realism, exept views settings.

Thanks again.

Wellcome to Forgotten Board.

Awsum list. Right on about the ~10km sky being much like a ~very~ clear sunny blue day on the surface and no stars at 10km (or 8km lol). Have you seen LOMAC night sky? You get all the constellations with correct star positions, brightness, and colour.

You can disable Autopilot in the controls menu, so it won't tempt you to use it as much to Cheat.

Hello Lexx;

I'ts sad to hear that about the sky... Well, about the autopilot, in the real life, you might know that they are unable to get an aircraft out of a stall. In most cases, of course, because i saw a documentary about a new autopilot being developed for the Super Hornet were the pilot don't need to touch the controls, even in a stall. Of course, that technology wasn't available at WWII...

Thanks again.

Oh, sorry, i forgot... You can find some other sky color examples in Concorde in flight videos/photos... It also flies at about 60.000 ft and at that altitude, there aren't much diferences with the blue sky of earth's surface.

Someday I would like to see the online scoring system fixed. And for the game to recognize a safe landing from a crash. Either do away with it or fix it.

um, I was talking about FB autopilot, you can take out the command to activate it in FB control menu (and add it back later).

But the LOMAC sky colours and night starry sky are the best of any flight sim. I fire up LOMAC to watch stars on a rainy night, but I don't actually play LOMAC....

and never will play that thing until they add real jets like Hawker Hunter, Saab J~29, La~15, etc... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

...or add Yak~1000 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif a late 1940s "F~104" which apparently flipped over on taxi test and retired. Never flew.

Darkness of upper sky should be different with lattitude and season.
Moscow is how far north? That is where the sim is made.

Yeah, i agree MaxGunz, but i still believe that, even for Russia region, the sky is getting too dark before the right altitude...

I agree with you too Luthor, we really need a sim with some 60's airplanes like Phantoms, Starfighters, Mig-15s... StrikeFighters still very poor... I believe that IL-2 is the best sim and it will be used as a reference for other games analisys for a long time....

Hi again;

Lexx, i was thinking about what you said of autopilots... The question is not to enable or disable it in the game, but make it work properly as it is in the real world. Imagine playing online... Many people will get out of a irrecoverable stall using this unrealistic trick now...
