There seems to be a lot of guesses and assumptions on this subject. I would love to know the real answer. Is it "derated"? Is it the same as those used on the channel front?

If we knew this answer it might avoid a lot of heated arguement. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Thanks,

faust

It would be cool, and totally realistic also, to have a 190A-4 without the outer guns, modification which brought big changes in climb and manoeuvrability (for instance an A-8 without the outer guns was almost as capable as a D9).

As an example an A-3 flying on the channel wihtout the outer guns (there were also A-4's modified this way)

Cheers,

P.S. A "two-canons" A-9 would be cool too, as two 20mm canons were quite enought to shot down a fighter![/URL]

There's a bunch in this book:
JagdWaffe, Holding the West (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1903223342/qid=1079033245/sr=8-6/ref=pd_ka_6/102-2928527-8652956?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 )

It got awesome pictures and some great operational stories. I am REALLY enjoying this series! Kind of like comic books for old guys, I can't wait to get each new release in the series.

This is an A-3, too. It has the small antenna hook for the FuG 7a radio, the A-4 had a little pylon for the antenna of the new FuG 16z. That was the only external difference between the A-3 and A-4 planes. But nevertheless very good pictures http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

I'm sure dogfights between "light" 190 A-3 or A-4 against year 1941 Spit VB would be very interesting!

You CAN set to have the A4 with removed outer MG-FF if you so choose.

VW-IceFire, of course we can take outer guns off, but we get that bomb rack which weights more than those guns.

But you'll get an ETC-501 instead http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

Yes, but you get and ETC and of course no improvment in climbing and maniability.

I said that because charts have been transmitted showing that a A-8 without outter guns was almost as good as a D9: so this mod has a great effect over overall performances and that's not sensible for the moment.

Usually a big rack is good, but, not if you're trying to go fast in your 190.

Some people say that the beginning A4 models had the derated engine to 1.35 ata as the A3.

German data may be for before the change or after or the whole derated idea may be false. Which one is this one? I guess the year of the IL2 A4 should tell?
