View Full Version : Who is the woman in the E3 trailer? (Interesting theory)

I have a theory: The woman is Yeesha grown up. She is wearing very strange costume, like Yeesha in Uru.
Consider that we'll be using the amulet to see flashbacks of Yeesha in the game. Isn't it possible that we'll also use it to give flash-forwards?

I don't think its Catherine. The costume is way too different.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world: People who know binary and people who don't.

Sorry, but it's Anya (http://www.uruobsession.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t=10584&s=43d0e591090874a3ffdb4b083fef4f97) (first post by Pat).

Oh wow! I just heard her speak (the other thread told me to listen...)

I thought she was speaking another language, so I didn't pay attention to what she was saying!

OK I retract my theory from the pool. Now to think of a new one!...

Here's a theory you might like:

The woman wearing the necklace says "I'm Anya, one of the Sisters of this temple." Suppose that there is a D'ni religious sect devoted to the Prophesies described in the Book of D'ni. Yeesha seems to be one of the women mentioned in those Prophesies (as well as Anna and Catherine), so perhaps she's in contact with them, and that's where she got HER magical necklace. Of course, this would imply that the temple is in Releeshahn, so we would get an opportunity to go there in the game, as many hope.

I'm not fully convinced of this theory, but I think it's a strong contender at this point. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

we know from the Books Of The Kings that there were prophetesses, and i'm pretty sure there were priestesses as well. there were so many different religions at some point that your theory could very well be right on the money..... anybody else have thoughts? i also heard "I'm Anya,....Sisters..temple..."

I've thought of a way in which this theory could be true even if the Age is not Releeshahn.

Releeshahn has only been settled a few years at the time of Revelation, but that temple looks much older than anything the D'ni could have built since they moved there. Suppose this religious sect is very old, and they have their own private Temple Age, which was unharmed by the Fall of D'ni. Maybe Atrus found this Age when he was searching for survivors, but the Sisters (and Brothers, I presume http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) refused to leave their temple, so they never moved to Releeshahn with the rest of the D'ni.

I'm starting to like this theory more and more.

Yeah it does, Mayan was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the trailer.

I'm sure the first she say's is "I am Anya" (since that's her name) but the rest is a little odd, maybe something sounding like "I'm a sis nav cer re te tempol" - sister and temple in there maybe - and temple seem's somehow appropreate. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Maybe she's speaking in English and another language, maybe a hybrid? Maybe she doesn't know which to use? Maybe the producers garbled I so we wouldn't get any clues? Maybe I'm slightly deaf? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

I've been surfing the Internet and looking at all the examples of Mayan architecture that I could find and while there are some similiarities, the bell-shaped item that appears behind and above Anya's head does not appear in any Mayan feature I could find.

My audio just isnt' good enough to really hear what's she's saying, but then it may be garbled on purpose for the trailer.

I think it may sound a little garbled because Anya has a bit of an accent. To me she sounds something like T'Pau, the ancient Vulcan woman in the "Amok Time" episode of Star Trek.

The architecture doesn't really look Mayan to me. More Celtic, maybe, or druidic. Though I suppose the artists used many sources to come up with something new and different, yet strangely familiar. However they did it, it's great!

I'm running a pretty low end audio card....SoundMax, so I can't even tell if she's got and accent or not....

I'll just experience my "audio" vicariously through you guys http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It doesn;t look Mayan at all, it looks more like something from the mid-late bronze age. If it were Mayan, it would be more decorative. Other than some drawings on the pillars (triangles were not featured at all to my knowledge in Mayan art), there is nothing "decorative" at all other than the woman.

I think she says: "I am one of six-thousand left to die." Thats just my two cents.

Edit: Or it could be: "I am Anya, one of six-thousand left to die."

For those who haven't seen it, somebody finally got the phrase exactly right on a thread at MO, and Pat09 confirmed it. Ready for it?

"I'm Anya, one of the six sisters of the temple."

(I was SO close with my original guess. All I missed was the "six"! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif)

My two cents are that she says "I am, your six thousand to take you away" on my computer, and I have been listening closely at it near six thousand times, there is an accent on the thousand that sounds like xouzind (xau-zind), not in any way does it sound like sister nor the word temple (to). May not make much sense in this short phrase.

matt myat
06-08-2004, 02:53 AM
I don't think it sounds like "i am one of the six..." either, infact i'm sorta convinced it's another language - but mark my words, no matter how many times either of us has listened to it we'll report different pronounciations! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

But if Pat said it, i have no doubt that's what Anya says... or is Pat leading us on? Maybe her name isn't even Anya!

Its because the music is so loud. It could be anything. We'll just have to take Pat's word for it until we hear it ingame.

WHAT'S THAT? YOU CAN'T WAIT 3 MONTHS? HERES THE SOLUTION...

Hmmm if I've learned one thing from studying all this physics its that when you move close to the speed of light time speeds up in the rest of the universe relative to yourself.

So all we have to do is get in a really fast space ship (like Atrus ship!) and travel around the earth at 1079935500 kph (or just 99.9940277% of the speed of light) and then three months will take only 24 hours from our perfectly valid reference frame. (Yes I used my calculator to get the above figure I didn't just guess!) Please don't ask how much energy we need to attain that speed!
Now this may well be possible if we make use of Linking Books - due to the nature of books we may in the process of linking to ages be accelerating ourselves to such velocities...
http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/353.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif
OMG Sri you were talking about time travel through Linking Books - I reckon these Cyan boys have a strong base in Physics they've probably done this stuff! Although of course Physics states you can't travel BACK in time only FORWARD (which is annoying, back in time is much more useful than forward!)

Yaay Myst IVs coming out tomorrow in my reference frame http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif
