I suppose you all know by now that TrackIR3 and pro are coming out. PLEASE do us all a favor by emailing them to add more RANGE! My trackIR1 works just fine, as long as I am 6" away! People are doing all kinds of dumb things to stay within range... we need range more than more resolution!

Lets help them make improvements that really matter!

I must be one of the lucky one's in that I have never really had a problem with keeping within the range. I would be concerned though that more range would equal more interference. If they give it more range I hope they improve the filters as well.

So thats why TIR2 price drop. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

With my setup I set over 2 feet from TIR unit. And can lean back about a full yard or meter with no effect than a recenter. If you don't know all my info is linked in my sig. I have TIR1 still.

I'll wait for maybe TIR 7 or 8. By that time maybe it will be worth the $100.00 they got from people that bought these development versions of TIR.

TIR1 here too. If it's "LOADS" better I might consider a TIR3-pro, but right now my TIR1 works flawlessly.

Chaps,

being resident in the UK, where can I get it here (TrackIR2)? I've not found an outlet as yet. Is there one, or do I have to have it shipped in from the US?

Cheers,

Gibbs

I am so glad to here this. I was impressed by the TIR images posted a couple of days ago even though I made fun of some of the users. I really think I'll cough up the money and get the 3 Pro. Thanks for the info...GO TIR!

I've got TrackIR1 and it gives me absolutley NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER.

I really can't see the point in upgrading.

The only thing that interested me from the press release was the bit about "even in direct sunlight" but I very rarely attempt to fly during the day anyway so that isn't even worth the price-tag either.

I wonder if that means you can actually smoke a cig while using TR3? Back when I was allowed to smoke in the house, it would drive my TR1 crazy. That was my one and only gripe with it :-)

Since I cannot smoke in the house anymore, I'll wait to see the verdict on TR3 before I upgrade since my TR1 is flawless.

TIR2 just came out not that long ago.

They need to provide an upgrade path for earlier TIR users.

$100 every 6 months is out of hand

Get TIR2 from here in UK:
http://www.rcsimulations.com/

I would haggle with them over the price as I reckon you will get a better deal especially with TIR3 on the horizon. FYI I have TIR2 and am absolutely happy with it, cant really see how it could be improved. I simply will not fly FB now without it,and havent used padlock since I got it either.

My trackir1 unit is approx 60cm (24 inches ?) away from the relective dots and it works fine - admittedly I use a 4x4 grid of the dots cause of the distance http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you wait for Tir3 Pro, you're wasting your money.

The difference from Tir1 to Tir2 was minimal. Slightly smoother, but thats about it.

Tir3Pro runs at 120hz
Tir2 runs at 100hz
Tir3 runs at 80hz
Tir runs at 60hz

If you ever thought of buying Tir, get version 2 while its so cheap.

Now this is exactly what I was talking about. I remember just a short time ago hearing similar stuff about TIR2 that is being said about TIR3 and Pro. The upgrade path for this product is non exsistent. Since they are apparently doing hardware AND software upgrades, they feel the full price every six months is a ok. Well.... ok if that's how ya see it. Like I said, maybe I'll get it once they complete this upgrade every six months development period. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

TrackIR 3 will be a very good tool for flight-sims. How do I know? I am a Naturalpoint Beta tester. TrackIR 3 is much better than TrackIR 1 and your TrackIR 2 will benefit from the new software that will be released. So if you have a TrackIR 2 no worries guys.

Also, I have been involved with Naturalpoint since the beginning and they are a great company that really does want to release quality products and have really revolutionized flight-simming IMHO.

No reason the get bent out of shape about TrackIR 3. It will be an awesome product.

I won't upgrade from 2 to 3 I upgraded from 1 to 2 and it wasn't really that much of a difference as 1 was pretty good already.

I'm not paying all that mulah for such a small change, besides even If I use the mouse it's not that smooth due to Vertical synch and if I turn that off I get tearing so I think until they get some 3D tracking for future games with real head movement then I'm not going to upgrade again.

I can understand why those that purchased the TIR2 would be a little bummed considering the release rev 3.

I am that's for sure but I'm enjoying what I have now and that's just the way it goes for hardware nowadays.

I've had my ATI 9800 Pro now for year and it's already showing some age.

It's just part of the game.

Wait for the release of the new driver in beta testing now, it solves the problem with your cigar.

If the trackIR is tracking a dot and a cigarette appears in the camera the software just ignores it and continues to track the real dot. Clever huh?

I tested this with trackIR 1 and 2.
