Totally agree with the guy who likes his malts! As a scot it feels like my national duty to keep this industry alive!
A good nip of Highland Park or Knockando(any malt will do! )and off I go.You feel that you should have one to steady the nerves but by the 6 or 7 looking for little black specs becomes a ridiculus persuit, and flying under bridges a better option!! Cheers!

I'm on a Wild Turkey Manhattan kick lately, but I'll also have a nice sipping tequila or scotch usually followed by beer. Guiness, Bass, and if I'm broke Miller Lite. (Hey, I'm from Milwaukee, so it's ok.)

I picked up a Soviet vodka flask from my local surplus store. It's got a badge on the front depicting a DB-3 and the inscription 1941-1945. I don't care for vodka, but I'll swig whiskey from it while playing.

Hi,

If flying VVS, I might have to fetch the bottle of Stolichnaya out of the freezer.

Otherwise, Fullers brewery has a fine range of products including London Pride, ESB and 1845 - the latter is a bit strong for a prolonged session, though, although my flying is bad enough sober.

Cheers,
Norris

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

I always fly better with a good buzz going, and I have to take a gulp every minute or so...so that rules out anything hard.

Pint glasses are too suseptable to spillage, so it's just a decent lager out of long-neck bottles for simming.

Did you know that Aldous Huxley got his wife Laura to administer him with two 100ug doses of LSD on his death bed, whilst improvising readings from the Leary-Alpert-Metzner manuscript of their soon-to-be-published manual for the psychedelic experience based upon "The Tibetan Book of the Dead"...?

So you're never to old!

I haven't done it in a long time... but I once took it whilst playing X-Wing back in '93 and for about 16 hours I swear I really did "feel the force". Then I played Doom and it wasn't quite as pleasant... pretty intense though! Pity I didn't have online FB back then.

These days I'd rather have a nice drop of red wine... I've got to get up in the mornings.

I've heard modern day USAF pilots take loads of amphetamines... how about back in WWII? Did pilots take narcotics to keep them on edge? Flying planes (for real) high on drugs doesn't seem like a particularly good idea to me.
