Dear Luthier,

I have a couple of suggestions/questions which I think might bring more realism to PF and IL-2:AEP.

1. Will it be possible to have the bomb bay doors open of the B-25, Betty, Avenger, and Helldiver? (If the Avenger and Helldiver are in the first release).

2. Will there be better fuel management in PF. This is something that would bring more realism to the sim. Say one engine on the B-25 is on fire or leaking fuel you would be able to cut fuel to that engine, or you might be able to switch between droptanks and main fuel tank on Hellcat, etc....

3. I would also like to see better communication between, crewmembers/gunners/tailgunners/navigators, if possible, i.e., "Bogey coming in from 9 o'clock high!"

4. Finally, will there be napalm available for US weapons loadouts?

Thank you for your time.

Oh yeah, "injured" aircraft should have priority of landing before any other aircraft.

I hate threads like these http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Just as I'm beginning to feel good about what we're doing, people ask for some essential features that we don't have and make me all sad and vulnerable inside.

I don't think there'll be a separate command for opening/closing the bomb bay. I know what you're all going to say, but this is actually very difficult to do http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Really doubt we'd be able to do fuel management, although I do feel your pain very much.

And unfortunately the radio comms are such a huge convoluted system that changing them is simply out of the question. I'm serious - for a single new radio call we'd have to move the release date six months.

Napalm - we've had something very napalm-like on the Sturmoviks already since the original IL-2, so I don't see why we can't have it in PF http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Dear Luthier,

I did not intend to damper your mood. Sorry about that http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/1072.gif

I know that there are limtations. And that is alright with me. I just thought that I could add a couple of ideas.

Anyways keep up the great work. It is really great to be able to hear from the BOSS. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

Luthier::
quote:
make me all sad and vulnerable inside.

Nah. What flight simmers enjoy the most is air war gameplay and not StarTrek "Trekkie" technical details.

Devs giving flight simmers techie details like arrester hooks is like a mom giving sugar candy to her child. Devs offering active AI ground control of AI intercepts would be like mom spending a whole afternoon playing with a child.

Which one builds the better trust and intimacy between mom and child? Between Dev and simmer? Don't be tricked by the false mask of webboard Trekkie Techie Macho; flight simmers get emotionally intimate when they get intense air WAR combat gameplay.

AI not seeing through clouds, AI day fighter pilots and gunners having restricted ability at night, ground control of AI/Player planes--Chinese ground observers for Flying Tigers or the island coast watchers are good examples. These are the things that can turn a flight sim into a War Machine.

Flight simmers enjoy these gameplay Features far more than the Trekkie Techie details. And here, there is more than an analogy between flight simmers and children. Like a child will rarely admit to enjoying mom's play time more than mom's candy, flight simmers rarely admit to having more Fun with a Dev's air war gameplay than a Dev's candy...er...techie details.

A Great Mom never feels sad and vulnerable about the way they raise their children. Flight simmers are all little children, as we see here http://www.ubi.com

Luthier, don't listen to Dr Spok there, he sounds like he might have an Oedipus complex! We'll take all the Trekie Techie stuff you can give us!!

Arrestor hooks, Barriers, LSOs, Elevators, bomb bay door commands, all the complex engine mamagement you got, plus whatever else you can think of. We want this because this is a simulation, NOT a game. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

...........Having said that, I would be the first to admit that even Spok has a moment of brilliance now an then.

I'll wait for BoB for RCEM (Really Complex EM), but I think the PTO does need ground control of intercepts - essential to carrier group operations - and reports from coastwatchers. Although, if we're going to have FB-sized maps, it may be possible to relegate their reports to mission briefings.

Dear Lex,

First, I dont understand your 3rd grade tactics. Remember this is a free forum in which ideas, like the ones I suggested, keep this site alive.

Luthier has stated that he and Oleg want to make the most "realistic" combat flight simulator ever created. My ideas and suggestions, in which Luthier agreed with, would make this flight simulator more realistic.

People enjoy flight simulators becasue it is supposed to simulate flying....get it! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif
I am sure there alot of people like youself whose objective is to become the greatest PC fighter ace/war hero ever. And God bless you for that. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

But most of us, who like the experience of flying, would someday like to become proffesional pilots.

Also, this is probably going to be the closest any of us are ever going to get to be able to "simulate the flight experience" of these great warbirds.

Sorry if people want realism. Not all of us like to fly "arcade" style. Flying is more than just pushing the throttle to the fire wall and having everybody flying all over the place trying to get "points". This is why I fly offline.

As far as the AI gunners/pilots being able to see/fire through clouds and under darkness is not big deal to me. If you knew how to "fly" using "proper tactics" you wouldnt have to worry. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif

This is not "WAR". It is a "Combat FLIGHT Simulator"! Lighten up!
