Cheating has been eliminated AS LONG AS THE HOST CONFIGURES THE SERVER PROPERLY!

Instructions:-

- Speedhack protection has been included since the first version of Il-2. Il-2
and FB net code continuously synchronizes the time between the client and the
server. The protection is activated when the time difference between the server
and client is more than 20% and it continues for more than 17 seconds. This
will cause the client to get disconnected from the server.

- After FB version 1.11 the conf.ini file contains two new parameters: checkServerTimeSpeed
and checkClientTimeSpeed. They allow the server to turn off this protection
for situations when smooth time progression cannot be maintained (see ).http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;274323).

- FB version 1.22 will have two new additional keys in conf.ini: checkTimeSpeedDifferense
and checkTimeSpeedInterval. These will allow the server to set the maximum difference
in time as well as the maximum allowed time period. The minimum value for the
checkTimeSpeedDifferense parameter is 0.01 (1%), and for the checkTimeSpeedDifferense
the minimum value is 1 (1 second). Default values are 0.2 (20%) and 17 (17 seconds).
The preset values are sent to the chat window on all connected clients as the
following message: checkTimeSpeed N sec K%.

I doubt cheating will ever be eliminated now it`s started. I can guarantee it will continue even after the Aces pack. But as long as they`re always people to counter cheats they`ll always be cheat free servers somewhere.

Other than that fly offline.

Exactly SeaFire, unfortunately majority of the servers at HL doesn`t really care about that.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Yeah. Obviously it was the speed thing I was referring to in my earlier post.

I agree, taking advantage of other people online with Cheating is just plain wrong. I'm glad Oleg and Team included countermeasures, but those bastards are always looking for ways around them.

Btw Seafire, great drawings! Do you do them yourself? If so, you are a very talented artist http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I like the I-16 one, hehe

We're lucky we have a developer who makes every effort to keep his game true. Anything that has ever been discovered to cheat with, so far, has been countered by the game's code.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

As Ivan stated above, Hosts have to use the settings and when they do, they will start to see a decline in long pauses, stutters, freezes and a "slew" of other interesting maneuvers, that happen when time is not monitored on their server.

The visual aspect of it is that maneuvering warp is almost always used in a defensive position, about 75% of the time from DSL/Cable pings and entails the old roll, stutter, warp slide, invert....roll, stutter, warp, slide, invert....repeat.

It can be used offensively, and slowing fast can be better for some than speeding up, but the main thing is that when they are on the offensive, you don't see even a ripple in the space-time continuum.

Regular LAG happens smoothly, for a brief second or two and the plane comes right back. There's usually allot of time between each LAG instance, if there's no cheat issue or hardware problem.

Even though today's crappiest dial-up may have 350mS ping or more, the cheat settings detect packet loss, and there is no way someone would be paying for that kind of internet service, if there truly was a problem. Some are just stuck with their service, but those in bad areas don't seem to be able to shoot down 20 planes an hour, like the other dial-ups.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

All things considered, AOL ain't so bad. I know, I've flown from dial-up for a couple-three months and I actually thought I had more of an advantage having the slower connection. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

The biggest problem I face is when to accuse someone of cheating..(At which time I Leave the game)or when it is a lag problem.....been accuse before in other games so I know I don,t want to accuse someone without proof...is there an EASY way to tell if they are using a cheat or do I have to become A math major to figure this out...

With the level of settings set correctly and referencing the above conf.ini file, You make sure you employ the anti-cheat tools and let the game do the rest.

"Set it and forget it."

I use 0.5 Near and 2.0 Far. I figure if some bad connects get booted, they can rejoin. Cheaters usually don't come back.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Thank you all for commenting.

Is there a directory or listing of servers other than Hyper Lobby?

I cannot stand cheaters.... hell I dont even like easy settings. But I get acused of cheating at lest once a week.Im on a 56k conection that connects around 26k somtimes 32k . I would upgrade if i could but where I live is a very tech unfriendly place because of the kind of ppl who live here. I ping most games at 250 to 450 but once ingame my ping is around 400 to 850 . http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Then I have to listen to someone who has a broadband connection tell me Im a $@#$@#ing cheated because of my plane stutters time to time, when every plane stutters time to time for me.To add insult to injury most games boot me because of my connect. So if it isnt a person giving me a hard time its a machine.well I just wanted to show there are enisent gamers getting caught in the cross fire. But there are 2 good things 1. Il-2 is one of the few games i can play at all with my connect. 2. If i fly bombers ppl dont complain because the lag stutters arnt enough to throw their aim off when there shotting at me so i dont get acused of cheating then.
S~ good hunting
