It is like most planes in FB are running on 2x compression. Why does the 190 roll at 130 degrees per second at 800 kph? Why does the P39 roll faster than the P40? Sheesh... I could go on and on... what is becoming of IL2? I fell in love with the original game, but now it seems like a freakfest of UBER-models with outrageous flight dynamics.

Dale Addink from Aces High should sit down with Oleg for a few hours and explain what a flight model is.

I mean, Dale vehemently argues that his flight models are accurate, and I assume Oleg would do the same. However, so many of the same planes in each game are vastly different.

I trust Dale much more, don't ask me why, I just do.. He's been doing this for a long time and FREELY gives sources for his flight data. Oleg on the other hand acts like he has to protect his sources with KGB sidemen.

All I can do is SIGH... I really love this game, and the flying is very fluid. But I can't really enjoy a WW2 sim with numerous problems so OBVIOUS. Oh well, take care.

It is called Autors rights, that means he cannot give you info with out the permision of the corresponding autoritys... why dont you guys understend that.... besides each change in the fm has been making the game more realistic dont tell me it is not, i read German Jet Aces of WW2 about the Me262, And in the original game it was so way overmodeled, now it is closer to reality, besides no one is holding no one here to stay, remember that

When/If we get a P-38, I will be a slave to FB for, possibly, forever.

Yeah, try to climb to over 9-10.000m...and stay there...if you can.

I feel the same way too.
I'm afraid they are not puting in the sort of serious effort we have come to expect when it comes to flight models.
It looks like half hearted attempts.
It's very strange because they have put in quite a bit of work in the patch in some other areas, improving the AI and adding some nice touches.
Why can't someone who knows his stuff concerning flight models look at it more seriously and as a whole?
Yes, the Dora is outrageous in the high speed roll, on the other hand the 262 feels like it has an anchor tied to its tail every time you attempt a zoom climb.
You start a zoom climb at 750Km/h and get followed all the way by just about everything.
Things like that hurt a game that prides itself in being a historically accurate simulation.
It's given me tons of fun but it's unfortunate it never quite feels it's there like Il-2 did.

Well, I know what you mean; I've been reconsidering WarBirds. However, considereing everything, warts and all, FB still comes out ahead in the overall realism stakes; so, of the 3, WB, AH & FB, I think FB is still the game for realism freaks. [Please don't mention M$ CFS3, it's a non-starter in this race. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif ]

Another thing, which really was annoying me in massive-multiplayer games (WarBirds3) was the lag problem. On an almost daily basis I would evade an attacker and watch him shoot tracer into thin air quite a way from me - sometimes an incredible distance away - yet on his FE he was getting hits so I'd suddenly blow up. That sort of thing has happened 2, maybe 3 times in 18 months of IL-2/FB. If I see tracer missing me, then I am being missed. Maybe if/when we get the full-time server such things will be more apparent in the larger arena, but there is always the choice of where to play.

My knowledge of AH is quite out of date now, but do they still have that 3 country set-up? At first the 4 country set-up in WB was fun, but once they went to historical allies v axis I didn't want to go back to multi-country, all ac on all sides, type arenas. Then you've got the compulsory icons in the only populated arenas. No thanks; that's another realism thing FB has got me used to.

If you like full-on realism FB is the best bet and has most potential if it is supported over the coming months/years. So far it has been and looks like it will be for a while to come. If other projects ultimately cause FB to be left to stagnate, then maybe the opposition will catch up. But that's a year away at the very least; so, having reconsidered WarBirds, I'm going to do nothing /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
