What happened to this hero?

Keep in mind that I know that this is a motion capture video. I am just wondering this class didn't go into final release. I would like a sword and shield character for knights; why is there no sword and shield character. So may a answer be shared?

I made a thread kinda about a character like this if you want to check it out.
http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/1693657-New-knight-character?highlight=knight+character

Also when is the time the ubi people come onto the forums?

At first I thought this was a tricky spam post that Ubisoft ignores to address. Glad to see that's not the case.

The hero you are mentioning looks like an early version of a Warden/Conqueror that never panned out. More so Conqueror with a shield.
Also from one of the gifs, he lunges with his sword. Really reminds me of Centurion that lunge.

This guy could just be a whole mixture of what has become the Knights.

I thought that ubi can just make conqs new gear this armor and a sword, but the emotes and executions wont work, the sword model will have to stretch.

I'm not exactly sure what happened to that particular hero's concept, but as Blasto95 suggested, it is likely that the idea became a branching point to flesh out other members of the Knights faction. The video itself was a very early concept video to showcase the initial vision of For Honor with the use of motion capture technology. Perhaps the concept did not pan out as development started to begin and progress.

From what I understand about the early For Honor concepts, it was not character/class based as it is now, it was actually weapon based. So there would be a generic knight, viking, and samurai, and you would equip them with armor and weaponry as part of customization. Obviously that didn't pan out (I imagine balancing for that would have been even more of a nightmare than it is currently), so the character system was opted for, and a sword and shield character was given to the Vikings.

Keep in mind there's still another Knight hero up for release in the future! Also, I do feel as if making a sword model for conqeuror might be stretching it a bit since it would still have to perform the movesets of the flail.

We can bring it up for inspiration for future Knight heroes -but in the meantime, there's always warlord. Granted, he's not a Knight, but WL is still pretty cool. :)

About the stretch for the sword (I know this is still stretching stuff). Maybe alternate weapons for hero's? Like warden = bastard sword,, conq= sword and shield, warlord= ax and shield, HIGHLANDER= claymore, orochi= the weird armor puncture thing that looked like a rainbow dagger. You get the jist. However there is no customization for these weapons; they stay the same but they have a downside and upside.
