View Full Version : UQMG has really been great for me

I just wanted to toss this into the ring since I d/l the UQMG a few weeks ago. It has unlocked this thing and here's why. I have a low-end computer and as such cannot fly the Single missions and Campaigns even though I would love to. So, about all I can manage is QMB stuff with like 4 to 10 planes in the air. Even then when the shooting starts my fps is gonna be down in the teens. Anyway, I was happy when the Japanese planes started to appear (I love the Pacific) and wanted to fly things like the P-40 in US markings etc. Another thing I have always enjoyed is being able to do a solo takeoff and just practice landings, from the field of my choice. You could do this in CFS2 with the Freeflight option, but not in FB, at least not with the QMB. I tried the FMB a couple of times but for me it just wasn't userfriendly and I did not like it. Also, as much as I like the A6M5 Zero flying it over Moscow wasn't much fun for me.

So, enter the UQMG. What a great package. Now I can fly where ever I want. It is easy to use and has loads of options. Thanks to it I am enjoying the Pacific, the Ardennes, Stalingrad, etc. If I don't feel like doing any shooting which is kind of rare then I can just do free-flight stuff. Hopefully soon I can upgrade to a machine that can really run FB to it's potential, and for people that can do that now the UQMG makes it possible to create missions with a huge number of A/C.

Right now I am only getting a fraction of what this sim offers because of my computer, but at least my enjoyment of that has really increased.

Uberdemon, if you are still on here let me ask you something... I would like to be able to use the Berlin and Kursk maps but I am strictly an off-line single player and see that they are not available. Will this be changing? Also, I have done some practice bombing on ships in the Pacific area from the P-47. I have also strafed and fired rockets at them but they never seem to show any damage. Are the ships modeled to show damage?
Thanks for your answers and thanks for what you do!!

1 - Berlin is coming... literally in seconds... right after this post I'll announce it.

2 - Damage in ships is not too easy to see. Those things were tough. If you inflict a lot of damage you will see it. For example, the chimney will be knocked out... also you will see visible damage... but to do that you have to use some pretty heavy ammo, like rockets, and some bombs. Cannon damage will not be visible unless you have unlimited ammo and you make a bunch of passes. Rockets are your best bet.

Did you find out what was causing the IL-4 (1942) not to show up UberDemon?

Hi, UberD. I am still hopeful of downloading the UQMG, but for some reason even though I have broadband, I'm getting 4 kbps on the transfer. That's dial-up speed http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif, do you know what could be happening ?

Thanks.

tsisqua,

First off, thank you for your great support.

Capt,

My server is in Australia, and depending when you download, the traffic gets slow. Generally the first 24hrs after I announce an upgrade, my site gets saturated. My provider actually took me offline a couple of times. I had to explain it was nothig weird, just some freeware software. Traffic really increased after the articles and publishing by PC Pilot and Computer Pilot magazines.

If it makes you feel any better, I have to test, upload and download using only ISDN...

Sorry... I can only afford the cheap servers... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

UberDemon since the last update the "incrementally increase AI skill" feature of cloning doesn't seem to work...

Have you taken a look at that feature since?

BTW UQMG is a great app - thanks a lot!
I didn't expect an update until after the Aces expansion.

Yes Extreme One,

I took that as one of the fix actions from the information you had sent me.

The problem was that the incremental skill was only working with waves of more than one flight. It is fixed now.

Better yet, you can control all those cool cloning features by flight... it is not just one setting for all flights in all missions... now the settings are by flight and you can save them in the "uqmg" files, so your missions play EXACTLY as you want them to... I even included some (8) MS CFS-like templates with waves of random mixed formations, which off course changes every time you click the Create Mission Now button...

So in so many words, it is fixed, and it is more powerful than ever, but with extremely easy controls... all a few clicks away... in seconds you can have some nifty missions slapped together.

Brilliant!!!

I sincerely hope you don't consider me (or anyone else who offers 'suggestions') a whiner. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Even without that feature fixed UQMG is the best 3rd party app for FB bar none!

Thanks again!!!

You are not a whiner.

This kind of feedback allows me to improve UQMG. With a team of one, that is me, it is hard to catch all problems.

When a "customer" has a concern, I try my best to fix the problem... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I am all about service... he he.

Now if I could find a better installer, things would bo smoother.

I use NSIS (made by the team that brought you Winamp) it's good, FREE and not too difficult to learn.

Get it here:- http://nsis.sourceforge.net/home/

If you can't be arsed to learn I could always create a script for you if you like...?

I think that this thread needs a serious bump. I got the upgrade last night before beddy-bye, and almost never made it to bed. If you go to file/open, then open up the new folder, you will have the time of your life! Waves of Zekes coming at me over the Pacific, just like in CFS2! That was probably the only thing that I really miss about CFS2, and now I am cured forever!

Uberdemon, you call us your "customers", yet all this work you do for free. I hope that everyone pays attention to this, and realizes that your time is valuable to you, as it is to everyone else here. There is a way to say "thank you" that really means something.(hint, hint, http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

Now, I want to say thank you to you, Extreme_One. I also have been looking for an installer that is easy to use, and I just downloaded the one in your link. I am working on a very serious campaign right now, and I want to present it to the community in an easy to install format. This is my first, but I think that you will like the premise. You are the king of building these campaigns, as far as I am concerned, so if you don't mind, I may have a technical question or two for you as I go along. Thanks Again.

tsisqua,

I think I replied already, right? But I am happy you are enjoying my upgrade... if you look at the time it has taken me to come with an upgrade... yes I did spend a lot of time...

Extreme_one... having problems downloading the installer, I think my firewall's live anti-virus is causing problems... oh well, I'll keep trying.
