I have a question about the aircrafts that will soon be added in an upcoming patch, or for any patches for that matter:

When one download and apply the patch flyable or not, are the new aircrafts being made available as AI controled aircrafts in Dynamic campaigns for their respective fronts and year of availability ?? ie. When flying a Luftwaffe campaign on the Eastern Front, should I expect for instance some of the following A/C to show up as enemy AI controled as appropriate after I download and apply the patch (if those are indeed in the patch off course)? ie. some of the new Yaks, Laggs, B-25 and other ??

Thanks

This is beta version of NGen: http://www.il2center.com/NGenBeta.zip Korolov tested it and he was able easily switch planes in given campaigns. Enjoy

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Ok, it's pretty basic... In your FB folder, find the "NGen" folder, and extract all files but the "NGen.exe" file into it. Then extract "NGen.exe" into the main FB directory, and overwrite the old copy (make a backup!)

If you want to edit a campaign, you'll have to edit the database files (like "Kuban43.db"); within those files you'll find a planelist with numbers to their left - I don't know what the numbers are for, but I assume they're numbers for randomness, like how often that plane is encountered and used. If you want to add a plane, find it's correct name in a mission file and paste it into there, then grab some numbers from one of the other planes and put those in front of it.

Now when that's done, you can save it. Next you have to edit the .dat files so you can select those planes from the generate mission screen.

So, you'd have the following for attack planes (the strike flight):

[RedPlaneAtt]
pAttRed:IL_4_IL4 IL-4
pAttRed:PE_3BIS PE-3
pAttRed:PE_2SERIES84 PE-2
pAttRed:IL_2MLate IL-2M
pAttRed:IL_2Type3 IL-2 Type 3
pAttRed:I_153P I-153/P
pAttRed:I_16TYPE24 I-16 Type 24
pAttRed:LAGG_3SERIES66 LaGG-3
pAttRed:P_39N P-39N
pAttRed:LA_5 LA-5

If you wanted to put P-38s in for the attack plane option, you put "P_38J" or "P_38L" like this:

[RedPlaneAtt]
pAttRed:IL_4_IL4 IL-4
pAttRed:PE_3BIS PE-3
pAttRed:PE_2SERIES84 PE-2
pAttRed:IL_2MLate IL-2M
pAttRed:IL_2Type3 IL-2 Type 3
pAttRed:I_153P I-153/P
pAttRed:I_16TYPE24 I-16 Type 24
pAttRed:LAGG_3SERIES66 LaGG-3
pAttRed:P_38J P-38J
pAttRed:P_39N P-39N
pAttRed:LA_5 LA-5

The same goes for the other entries where you'd like to add more planes. You can also add custom units, like unaffiliated USAAF, or 56th FG, etc. in the following lines:

[RedSquadAtt]
RedSquadAtt:431ShAP 431st ShAP
RedSquadAtt:34BAP 34st BAP

Again, you go to a mission file to take the squadron name, and replace the left entry with the squadron file name, then the right becomes the name you'll see in the campaign system. The only units that don't work right now are the British squadrons - they crash NGen if you try to use them.

I'm putting my custom "CBI 44" campaign up for evaluation, so you can look at it and how I did it. It replaces all russian and german AC with Japanese, American and British planes.

The .mis files are what the NGen program uses for vehicle and base generation... Not quite sure how it works; I tried to customize them but NGen wouldn't use them. So you have to stick with default campaign areas and vehicles, but you can change planes and nationalities. Beware - this campaign has British units enabled on them, but if you try to use them you WILL crash NGen.

Can I recommend that this be moved to GD? Would do more good over there than here.
