One thing I have learned over my time here is that, although we dont have the moddable planes and such that come with an open sourced sim (....which I prefer http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Im glad it isnt open sourced..) we do have an incredibly talented group of individuals here. From movie makers to skinners, to programmers and writers..........(where the h@ll is Smoke J? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif) you name it we have it here. Because of that I am placing a request out to the community and I know that someone out here can do this. Between the folks who brought us Mission Mate,The UQMG, Dgen, IL2 STAB, The DCG,Bright and anything else I may have missed I know that there is SOMEONE who can deliver on what I am about to ask for.. so here goes...

What I would like to see in FB are two things actually....

1) A stick profiler that can change ones stick settings with a few keystrokes. Here is how it can work.... If you go into the conf.ini file you will se a file like this :

Now if I am not mistaken... isnt that my jotstick settings in the input options menu? Could a program be created that would basically store different settings for different planes using a template that could swap the entire file with a few keystrokes? The benifit of that would be of course that.. you could even fine tune your stick settings to the characteristics for different planes. Say if you have one that may stall a bit easier if you apply too much backpressure on the stick too fast... like say a P-40... you could adjust the input settings on your stick so it isnt so sensitive. If you could do this for multiple settings then you can in effect have a setting for each plane according to your flying style and your stick. If the files could be kept in a folder in the main FB folder and inserted or removed according to the program into the conf.ini file on the fly instead of having to do each individual slider input one at a time.... wouldnt that be the same thing as having a setting for multiple stick profiles? The program would be relatively simple.. basically a program to swap a file in A location to B location. It wouldnt require opening up the source code at all.

2)The same thing could be applied to the ICON settings as far as color, range etc.. without having to go to the conf.ini or is it the rcu file.. I dont remember...... to do it. This could also be applied to the max lag settings.. I know it is pretty easy to do now.. but it could be even easier... Am I making sense? Looking at the incredible complexity of programs like The UCMG and Mission Mate and the seamless way they work in FB it seems tat SOMONE could make a simple program to do what I am suggesting.... and make those minor tweaks a bit more easier to do... Just not me LMAO... I know about as much about programmin as I do about brain surgery. For now anyway... So is there someone out there who can do this? If you havent made a mark on the IL2 community here is your chance..... we could really use somethuing like that.
And while Im ramblin........ I guess I should also post this in ORR.. would it be possible to make a way to alter the default skin without opening up the code? Could we just have like a folder in each aircraft file that says DEFAULT SKIN and we can assign one of out choosing? Would that have to open up the source code to be doable? The benifit of THAT would be that by having the ability to change the default skin mission builders would have a bit more creative room in making thier missions. By assigning the default skin of thier choice they could crate more realistic bases with static objects.. since the static aircraft use the default skin... or dont they?? LMAO.. Now I have to check.... but anyway.. is that doable as well? Im going to cut n paste this in ORR so maybe the big O can give me an answer..... it would be nice.

Why couldnt you just have a batch file to do it and have it in a few strokes with one of them being save in cinf.ini. Macros maybe..?

It would be super-easy to write. Nothing to it. The problem is getting FB to read the changes.

I think it only reads the changes when the game starts, and when you go to the controller setup page.

IF you are playing online, and change planes, it would probably never work.

Post two seperate settings for XYZ and I'll create a test program for you if you'll report back your findings.

Oh, and post what hot-key you want to use as well as the path to your conf.ini

The Problem is not the ini but the variables and the storing point in il2fb. You can set objects and names in il2 console. There is also a object tree but some objects just doesnt take set values.

So a possible solution would go in that way of alternating memory blocks. There surely is a way to set the stick ingame as there is the option menu for it. But without access to the routines you cant change or reread it.
