Hello Oleg

I play Il-2/FB/AEP from the very first time haven't played other flight sims but Red Baron 3D since the first demo was out. Great online experience, a lot of fun flying VEFs, Coops and in DG rooms. Time to time I have some connection problems related to my ISP so, when I can't join my Squadron mates online I play offline campaigns... sigh... my feeling is that Il-2 was never intended for offline use because the AI way to do... I can understand that to keep a challenging level with an human player there is the need to use some tricks for the AI. The thing that I don't understand is tactics and combat behavior. We have no radars so I guess that at the end Dikta Boelcke should be still of some use. For those that don't know of what I'm talking about check this link:

Well... seems to me that expecially the 8th rule is not followed at all... Now I'm flying a german campaign, I'm in position #4 and is really painful to see 6 MiGs go down on the bombers that my flight is going to escort and then see all the Germans go after a single opponent letting all the others to "play" with the bombers. Another annoying thing is the kill stealing... I really hope that you'll will get rid of that code line that say "Steal all the Human kills everytime you can". I've lost half of my kills because of a "smart" AI coming behind me, letting some enemy to nail me and killing the airplane that I was nailing... I guess that this could improve a lot the offline experience with Il-2.

Thanks a lot for your time http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Interesting read, Itto_Okami. Especially the

`Attack on principle in groups of four or six. When the fight breaks up into a series of single combats, take care that several do not go for one opponent`.

section.

AI`s a little better in that some will break off and attack from separate directions or just fly overhead, but there ARE still instances of multiple (more than 3) fighters attacking one hapless enemy.

Yes... Boelcke is called the father of aerial combat tactics. Keep in mind that the numbers used by Boelcke are related to the JagdStaffel standard strenght (I hope I used the right word).
Usually was a 12 fighters formation sent in patrols of 2 or 3 ketten (sections) and hardly a JaSta had more that 10 planes avaible at the same time. Next time that I'll see 7 of my virtual comrades chasing a single target I'll get a pict and I'll post here...

BTW... your artworks are great http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

See, this reinforces my theory that the AI is actually accutely realistic...go onto any human dogfight server and everyone is chasing one target http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Sarcasm aside, this is true, the AI could be better strategically/tactically but AI is a tricky thing to do for sure.
