View Full Version : Exclusion of Spit IX is irrational

I have seen no rationale for not including the Spit IX in the expansion pack. It was contemporaneous with all the other aircraft in the expansion pack. By 1944 the Mark VB was essentially obsolete. Can someone explain this bizzarre ommision to me?

What fun is simming a game of World War 2 where you Know you are going to win or lose (by 1944 both sides knew). 1941 now that's another story. With the Spit~5 you can sim the most intense and uncertain years for RAF outside of BoB. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

erm...........exclusions?? You wanna talk exclusions???

Hmm............

Should I start another rant about bombers being all but excluded from the start, or about aircraft being added which never flew on the eastern front, or the propensity for modellers to create aircraft which never even flew, or were in such small numbers that they may as well have not flown (i.e. Luftwaffe 1946 aircraft)????

Nah, I don't think I will.

I can't tell you when.... Probably already very soon (will be officially anounced)

But I can tell you that there are finally 29 (not 20 like officially anounced in the past) new flyable aircraft and 7 AI, 9 campaigns, 4 online campaigns (completely new feature), 33 single missions, 10 coop missions.

It is possible to install over any of FB version.

Witht he release of AEP we also will release free expansion for AEP with several more aircraft: at least 2 flyable and 4 AI.

We did also more protection against theoretically possible online cheaters.

So, finally we have 112 flyables in FB + AEP.
We did for all "missed" in the past important flyable aircraft the complex damage model.
And we have over 150 aircraft in total...

Please name me any other flight sim that has the same amount and equal quality of all planes
I'm happy myself.

Will be more later.

Actually the only reason it didn't make it in was because it wasn't quite finished. Its not rumored to be a plane that is in the expansion pack.

I can understand kind of questioning why the plane didn't make it (it will make it at one point or another) but the tone is a bit angry to me.

We'll get an IX one way or another...and an XIV and maybe even a Mark 22 and a Mark I. That makes me happy http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I`m sorry, but this kind of complaining when you haven`t received one single Spit yet is like complaining about the cherry when you haven`t been given the cake.

Let us at least get a Spit first!

It's a vast right wing conspiracy to keep all good british aircraf out of FB for as long as possible. Sabatoge and foul play is afoot.

Or maybe its just because the model is not done.

What puzzles me is seeing so many useless planes (prototypes or US jet planes) included in the expansion pack, and no Typhoon, no Tempest, no Spit IX, no Spit I.

Sometimes I think they're walking on their head. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

All of those lovely planes are already being worked on. The Tempest is probably 95% complete if not done and part of the 9 other aircraft not yet announced. I'm crossing the fingers. Typhoon is not as far along but its being done by the Omega guys (I hope they speak up sometime and show everyone what a fantastic job they have done). Spit I is being done by Ironhand (its quite far along actually) and the IX is 99%.

This is mostly a third party effort. Means that the guys get it done when they get it done. Its not an agenda by Maddox games...but a concerted effort on their part to have planes in the game that wouldn't otherwise be there (there would be no Spit at all without third party modelers).

The P-80, P-38, P-63, Go-225, Spitfire Mark V, and Mark IX, and others were done by Gibbage. Third party modeler...one of the most distinguished ones for sure...he did planes that weren't taken when he started. It all makes a whole heck of alot of sense when you actually have the story http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

They are in the works people! Relax! Do you want to fly incomplete 3d models? FB planes are included as they are finished and not before. The reason these "uber" planes are included before the ones that you deem more important is simply because they are finished. The Tempest,Typhoon,(flyable)Lancaster, etc. are still feverishly being worked on.

EDIT: Whoops,Icefire beat me to it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Thx for the info. It makes much sense indeed http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I guess my disappointment was stronger than my curiosity to know more, my bad.

Does it mean that there will be another expansion pack, or future planes will be included in BoB instead? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Ahhh, newcomers. Heres the deal as I know it.

1. Maddox is done with FB. Now its up to 3rd Party.
2. Nobody pays these 3rd party modelers, they can model whatever the hell they want. It's their time.
3. When they get it done it will be included with the next version of FB until the point where patching FB is discontinued.

What more info do you need to comprehend why some aircraft are in and some aren't??

P.S. I'm just gonna follow trend and stomp my feet for the Fw-190 A6. Waaaaa! I want it yesterday!

Do you imagine I never saw this screen before? The reason why I was expecting the Tempest is that the completed 3d model was already shown on FB development update. I'm sorry to say that but the more you post, the more you make a fool of yourself.

Given Oleg's last post in ORR about what's coming with the AEP and free expansion, I think it's highly likely you will get the Spit IX in or around the AEP.

Even if not, it and several other great aircraft are in a high state of readiness and will be released soon.

I'm really looking forward to all the new flyables, although I'm crap plane whiner and will probably only look at the pre-1944 ones, they're all great work.

The 3rd party modelling is only one part of an aircraft's integration into FB. We're being well treated by Oleg and co, given 1C should really be looking at BoB at the moment, have some patience http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well, the answer is simple, the modellers/olegs FM team are not yet ready with it.

There`s also base to it historically. On the Eastern Front, the Mk IX saw little combat, even though large numbers were supplied, the Soviets had negative experiences with the MkV (Spit was hard to be operated under harsh Soviet conditions, provisional airfields, unlike domestic Soviet types. Especially the narrow track u/c and the Spit`s tendency to bury it`s nose into the ground was troublesome with poorly trained pilots). So all Mk IXs they received went to the PVO, and operated in defense of large Soviet cities far behind the front, on well equipped airfields - as a result, they saw little, if any, combat.
