In the cockpit of the KI-84 there is a gauge in the center of the console (beside the RPM gauge) this is colored 1/2 red.

Does anyone know what this gauge is for?

Better yet, anyone know where I can find a cockpit layout in english for the KI-84 and the Zero?

Thanks in advance.

Coincidence...I think not !!!

I beleive that might be a boost gauge. Don't hold me to it though. Be careful asking for help on Japanese instruments, some guy tried to lay em out but I know at least three that were completely off, the fuel gauge being the main one. Generally if the needle is at full when you start with 25% fuel I'd say it isnt the fuel gauge. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The gauge your inquiring about is the manifold pressure gauge. There was another thread about what the Ki and Zero gauges were but I can't find it. I flew the AvHistory japanese plane's quite a bit in CFS2 MP so I'll edit some pics of the FB Japanese planes cockpits and post back here with description's of what the gauges are that I can remember.

I'm not saying it is, but only because I'm not too familiar with that plane; I'm sure these two are right. As I recall, the manifold-pressure gauge on the CFS2 planes was half red.

On a side note, manifold pressure and boost designate the same thing. Manifold pressure is used by Americans, boost is the British term. Manifold pressure indicates the suction caused by the engine, and it is often useful for regulating the throttle setting. Most people probably don't find much use for it since we have the % throttle setting in the HUD.

Some a/c don't allow below 100% fuel even if you select below 100%.

That is in fact the manifold pressure.

Who did that site? Thats an excellent resource, espcially for folks like me who are delving deeper into realism flying.

I'd like to link it for Ghost Skies, but use it as a personal resource for now.

Whoa!!! I just looked at the G model cockpit gauges. They are mis-labled. Maybe it's because he tried to throw all the G models together? hmmmm.

That link is pure crap unfortunately, Coastie. I don't think the author has a clue what he's trying to show in the cockpit references.

Take a look at the BF109-G2 reference, he seems to think the compass is an altimeter and the altimeter is the airspeed indicator. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I believe many fuel gauges indicate the status of the last bit of fuel in the tanks (or the last tank being used, more likely) so that, if a plane's full fuel capability is say 400 litres and the last tank being used is only 100 litres, when fuel is 25% overall the gauge would just start decreasing, from 100%.

I believe.

Well, perhaps you could use your expertise and send him an email with some corrections.

Just because their are a few mistakes does not mean the entire site is "pure crap"!

Thats a pretty rude comment ya Prik!

It is very imformative for the most part. Given the amount of info there, I am sure there are a few mistakes. But how will he know if nobody tells him?

Wow. I didn't know you guys were so sensitive and need to be coddled. I speak here like I would to my friends and most people know where I'm coming from even if it sounds rough but I'll try to be more wishy washy for those who are easily offended by my written thoughts. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Aeronautico, do yourself a favour before you start judging people because of how you interperet one or two posts, and do a search under my name to see what I have written here over the past year or so, then you can feel free to make blanket statements about me all you like. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Now, I stand by my statement that the site is crap until it's fixed (I'm sure the author doesn't even care what I think) because the only thing worse than NO information is BAD information imho. Kudos on putting together a potential resource for us but if all he did was take a few cockpit screenshots and add labels without even checking his work than what real good is it I ask you.

Whether it's crap or not to you or me is irrelevant and I'm doing just as much of a service to the readers of this thread by pointing out it's flaws as you have done by posting the link. Bottom line is at least the people who read this thread are aware of both.

Should I have included 5 smileys instead of 3? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

cheers

Milo, you never were very witty so it's best not to even try so I'll let your comment stand on it's own without a reply since since insults are not in the best interest of the discussion or this forum.

Chew on that little moral dillema while you type your last word and find more dumb smilies for punctuation.
