Hi Luthier, I'm waiting for your job!
I hope thatin PF will be improved some features that now in FB/EAP need some reworking...so there is my wishlist:

flaps setting: almost all the planes of FB/EAP have the 3 standard position "combat/TO/Landing", but many planes in reality have more than 3 position (P-47 i.e., and F-6 I think...);it would be nice to see the correct label "flaps down 20?", "flaps down 40?", "flaps full down" and so on...

radiator key: now, if I have the radiator flap in "position 4", I have to pass throug "position 6 - position 8 - open - open/auto - close - position 2" etc.: it's possible to add the possibility to map a key for "open radiator flap in increment" and one key to "close radiator flap in increment" ?

it will possible read, for appropriate plane, rpm setting instead prop pitch setting?
and, for planes that will have prop pitch control (there are?) it's possible to see displayed the setting in degrees instead in percentage? (fine/coarse is better than 20% or 90%...)

why in the speed bar don't display the correct speed (IAS) in increment of 1,2,3, instead 10 kmh per time? So I can read 436 or 437, or 441 kmh, instead 430 -440 -460?

most planes in FB/EAP are german or russian, then the speed and altitude are indicated in metric system, but in PF at least half of the planeset is USA, so it would be nice to see speed in mph and altitude in feet..I have no problem (I'm italian http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif ), but I think it would be a realistic feature for all american people that can't wait to fly Corsair over the Solomons...
[/list]
OK, there are only small suggestion, but I think that the game will have more appeal with so small improvements...(if they are possible, of course, I don't know much of game engine ...)
cheers

Since one of the main players is America, the meteric system at least for the American planes needs to be dumped completely. It is not historic for the American planes. Feet and Miles per hour should be the units of measure without any debate.

Well in terms of cockpits obviously the metric system isn't appropriate on U.S. fighters....the US Navy measured speed in fighters using Knots and the USAAF used MPH.

In terms of the speedbar...I really want to see a choice given there. I'd actually love it if you could customize (speed in KPH and height in feet or speed in KTS and height in meters for instance).

About the flaps - in FB/AEP you can operate them using one o your joystick/throtle axis, or mouse wheel - then you can set the flaps the way you want smoothly.

So... you have find a gramar or spelling mistake in my post ?

I'd also prefer flap degree settings-and we can always use that little sign in US planes that says "BEST FLAP SETTING FOR LANDING- <insert degree number here>" (was it 40 degrees?)

Radiator-good idea. I hate it when I miss the setting I want and have to cycle through all the settings again.

Speedbar-maybe it should just be adjustable for player purposes? I mean, if you want metric, use metric, but if you want the english system, you can use that too?

Correct IAS would be nice too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Okay, the distances in the Pacific are great. Is the current CEM capable of adjusting mixture to preserve fuel? The IJN pilots were masters at this.

May not be possible in the speed bar or the Cocpit-off gauges without large code changes. Currently the cockpit gauses show what should be in that particular plane (ie knots in Spitfire). I am sure the American planes will have the cockpit gauges in the correct units of measure. If you choose to use the speedbar or cockpit-off, well you give up any arguments of realism.

Couple of ideas, not only for PF but for IL2 as well. Mostly concerned with the ID icons.

1) Neutral coloured icons ie green, brown yellow or some such, that identify the position of other planes but do not give away their identification. This would more accurately reflect the hard time many pilots had with correctly sorting and id'ing enemy/friendly planes. Also means you would have to get fairly close to see if the icon was friend or foe and would lose track of friends/enemies in the confusion and clutter of battle.

US pilots in the 8th and 9th used to mistakely identify ju 88's as me 210/410's (and vica versa) even with the massive size difference!

2) Icons without distance readouts. Maybe just a fixed size box (a la EAW) that shows a targets position but doesn't give away range. Would make accurate gunnery for planes harder as you wouldn't know exact distances.

Are you fishing for something? I did not say anything about a speed bar or wonder women views? The staement stands.

Radiator settings should be like prop pitch and not a large cycle of commands. Right now I fly with Overheat OFF so I can fly without long text message in my face, and Radiator setting is the only text I need--because of the cycle commands.

Why the long text messages anyway? Why not small symbols on bottom corner like speedbar? Would be nice to edit the hud text messages, change "Radiator Position 4" to just "R4" or something less in your face.
