View Full Version : Even Better Water in "The Next Sim"

Anyone who's flown over coastal areas has seen a fantastic spectrum of different shades of water. There's greenish water, dark black water, turquoise blue, brown water, reddish water, etc. It mixes and flows with the wind and tides and can be very beautiful.

I'm glad that AEP now has 2 different kinds of water: regular and tropical. It looks fantastic!

However, the next generation sim (BoB or whatever) could use some next generation water. I'm not talking about pixel shaders and waves (that kills framerates for low end machines). I'm talking about colored water. It could even be left as static texture.

Wouldn't it be great to see muddy water, greenish algae-infested water, and all the different shades seen in real life! It would really add to the immsersion, IMHO. For example, something like the picture below.

Go here
http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~chapman/flightsims/oberstguncam/Movies/movies.htm
and download Impressions.

You'll see that FB's water does in fact already come in several different colors.

Fighter pilots don't fear whats under water, the fear what is behind the clouds.

New Water...Same old clouds

The ones that Know, know what I mean. Very few do. We need to ask for realistic sky weather first. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
