This had been one of the most awesome things I've seen in awhile. Last night I was studying for a midterm and looked up and noticed something strange in my aquarium.

I have a 20 gallon with 3 green barbs and 6 gold barbs. The green ones are quite a bit bigger than the gold ones and have been harassing them for weeks.

When I looked up all the golds were huddled in the corner like in a (american) footbal style huddle. The greens were on the opposite side of the tank foraging and doing whatever a fish does to pass the time.

After watching them for a few seconds, the golds split off. Two pair went low, one pair went high, slow not to draw attention. Its kind of hard to believe but each pair had one lead and one wingman (slightly behind). The pair that went high started slowly circlying at the top of the aquarium. The two pair downlow isolated one of the green barbs and started circlying around it in opposite directions.

The green new something was up, but wasn't sure how to deal with it. It kept looking at one pair and then the second. Then the high pair dove in on the green barb. I think they hit it, but fish move so fast its hard to tell. The high pair came up to about middle of the tank and the low pair pealed off to join them. The other two green barbs so what happened and a huge furball errupted. Never saw so many gold and green flashs.

In about 10 seconds everything was over and they were all happy doing their fish things again. None of them seemed harmed.

This was really amazing to me, I had no idea that fish had such a capacity for strategy.

LMAO.....Yeah Barbs are pretty aggressive, but I never expected to read about them in this forum. Perhaps the green ones were agreeing with Gibbage, and the gold ones were affiliated with AFJ ........... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

wow... You are truly sick.. LOL!

Actually, as I was working some traffic on the interstate today (Im a cop), I had to watch my energy diving through the center medians because of all the rain we have gotten lately. (Didnt want to get stuck, but didnt want to go airborn coming out of the wet grass onto the highway!)

I was really thinking of my 190, and even caught myself crouching down (Like in the gun position) when I came out of the turn apex.

I am sick too... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Perhaps you're right. Studying Aerospace Engineering, Playing Il2 and trying to get an internship. I pretty much think, breath and live on airplanes right now.

LOL Jung01.

Well this event caught me completely off guard. There was some serious thought going on, more then I new fish had. I had to tell somebody about it. The ones that would get the most out would be the people that understood the tactics and how hard it is to pull them off effectively.

After writing this, this morning, I countered this by asking a girl out. At least I know I wont be analyzing "fish energy fighting" this weekend.
