I've just arrived back after spending a great day at the International Flight Sim Convention in Blackpool, UK.

As might be expected it was dominated by FS2004 and IL2 related products with plenty of mouthwatering (and wallet emptying!) hardware and software on show.

I went to a number of seminars and was particularly impressed with Simkits cockpit (a bit beyond my budget) and e dimensional's Voice Buddy which seems a great solution to the problem of having to remember all those key combinations.

The highlight of the show was undoubtedly the presentation given by Oleg Maddox. I don't think there was much that would not already be familiar to visitors to this site but it was interesting to hear it in person.

Oleg did show some development updates for BoB including a selection of London double decker buses (non flyable!!).

I also had the pleasure of having Oleg watch me crash one of his planes onto the deck of a carrrier at the Ubisoft stand. Mind you, the Ubisoft staff were also struggling to do that.

Saitek also had their new controller on demo which looked impressive.

A great show - and I'm already looking forward to next year. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Cheers for the info Rozzer http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I don't suppose you saw or heard anything about the plane list for the upcoming Pacific Fighters?

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - G├╝nther Rall

Look Noobie, we already told you, we don't have the Patch!

Yes Oleg did put up a list of Pacific planes - can't remember what was on it though, just that it was impressively long.

You didn't manage to extract any patch news from the man by any chance?

Can I be the first to complain that the double-decker buses are over-modelled?

Hi all,

I was at the show on saturday and from what I saw of PF its going to be awesome just the movement of the sea and the general level on detail is impresive. Ran a mission flying a Hellcat defending against a Japenese attack, came head on with a Zero and got my screen shattered not just a bullet hole but shattered.

The B29 look impressive, I saw Oleg smoked a few in a Ki84.

I must admit that the venue was not brilliant the Ubisoft stand was about 2.5m x 6m (approx 6ft x 4ft) very small and that goes for most of the stands and not very much room to move around, at Birmingham it seemed a larger venue and more room to move around. I just hope it come back to Birmingham soon.

All in all it was an interesting show, I'm looking forward to BOB, that is going to be some sim, Oleg did say that physics will be included in ground objects with moving suspention over bumpy terrain ect.

I did see some Simped rudders at the show and I must say they are very well built so I have those on my list of thing to get, expensive this flight sim stuff!

cheers Kfurni
