Yup, that's my wish.

Don't give me the "you can build it yourself in the full mission builder", I use the QMB alot in FB when I'm lazy and just want to shoot stuff, but sometimes you get tired of hitting the same Crimean convoy or 4 He-111 over winter Moscow. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

I assume it's not much of a technical coding task to include some more options in the PF equivalent, but priorities are priorites... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Here's some suggestions at least:

<UL TYPE=SQUARE>

<LI> All maps available (at worst "most")

<LI> All countries available

<LI> Random carrier battle (autoselect one carrier from each side, user select attacker/defender with "advantage/disadvantage", set fighters/bomers from the menu as it is today. Add "Auto" button. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif )

<LI> Scramble!! (select side/plane to fly, select airfield (or not), take off and be surprised!)

<LI> More targets/variants in ground attack.

<LI> Save/Export function

[/list]

Instant action type functions tend to get slightly overlooked in sims, and rightly so, due to work on mission editors and campaigns, but I thought I'd just make a thread so nobody could say it wasn't asked! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I'm sure the guys here have loads of cool ideas, but lets keep "quick" in mind. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Perhaps something new? Something between QMB and FMB and to the left of the campaign? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif

Yes, good idea I think, the random mission in the good old EAW days made for some nice surprises.

As for the "you can build it yourself in the full mission builder" argument, well its not much of a surprise if you have just sent the last hour making the mission is it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

I have always wondered about why all the maps are not availalbe. I have a 26k connection and I get booted from most multiplay rooms. So I have not experienced probably half of the available maps. How can I fly the Pacific type maps in FB unless you are in multiplay?

Luckily I will be getting cable at the end of May, but it has always been disappointing that I could not fly the maps I hear so much about in multiplay in quick combat. I probably havn't seen half of the maps the game has to offer.

If you don't want to make missions yourself, you can download or copy as text community-made missions.

Finally, you you should try Uber Demon's Uber Quick Mission Generator.

I agree completely that all maps would be nice in QMB. I heard once that it would be a programming nightmare. I don't know why, but it would be nice to not have to use FMB.

You can build it yourself in the full mission builder, your trick is make Templates for making quick mission changes, then you make quick missions faster then with the slow and hard to use QMB. And you are not stuck with head on engagement all the time, every time, and you can setup real big altitude advantages or disadvantages.

Also, with the FMB you get to take off!
I started using the FMB instead of that confusing-yet-oversimplified QMB because I wanted to take off myself. Now that I know the Power of the FMB, I use the QMB as a skin viewer--it works great!

Once you start playing with ground objects, you'll never go back!

the all maps thing is not going to work, because it requires all combinations of aircraft for the map. you have 112 i think playable aircraft*the opponents(more than 13000 combinations). And that is merely the beginning. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

O, how I want to hold you,
To feel your breath
And hear your laughter in my ears.
To look into your eyes
And see myself in there.
Caress you with my lips.
To hold your hands in mine
And find the hidden smile in your dimple
That makes you irresistible
And stops the breathing in my chest.
To be with you when you are weeping,
To wipe away the tears and take away the sorrow.
To watch you while you are sleeping
Like there is no tomorrow.

And with a tender kiss to wake you up.

You mean they need to store a separate .mis file for each combo?

That seems like a nice place to start changing things...

I am not sure if it is exactly that way, but more or less, it is creating a different mission for every combination of aircraft. Then comes the number of planes, skill, loadout, time of day, advantage, ground objects... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif

That doesn't mean you have to have manually make 13.000 mission files.

What about the dynamic campaign generator? Did they manually make a million missions and then the most fitting one gets selected?

Planetype, skill, number of planes in one flight and loadout are just parameter settings within the .mis file unit-tags, which can be changed outside of the program.

C'mon, if you're not sure how it works, don't make "can't be done" statements.

I am citing from memory, once oleg explained why they dont implement new maps for QMB(see above). the problem is very old And I'm not saying it cannot be done, just that it is not likely.

Lexx has it -- build templates in FMB. The benefits are:

- Allows you to place objects around red and blue airfields, e.g., buildings, AA, cameras.
- Makes incremental changes and corrections easy.
- Provides an ongoing storyline for multiple "quick" missions.
- Allows for more intense (or less) enemy concentrations.

Been using this method for months to create platforms for series of "quick" missions. FMB is a reasonably flexible tool, in my opinion, better than Janes WWII's mission builder and not quite as interesting as CFS2's.
