Hi all,
is there in existance a comprehensive IL2/FB/AEP strategy guide or hints book? If not, why not? I'd be keen to see one, a guide to dogfighting, bombing, strafing, creating skins, movies, an overview of the planes, some history... There's so much to cover it would be great to have it all in one spot, in the hands. The manual doesn't scratch the surface. What do you guys think? any ideas for stuff you would like to see in such a volume? I think a book would be cool.

There is none that I have ever heard of. Don't forget that the strategy guide can't give a "walkthrough" of anything in Il*2:FB because there is no static campaign with the sim, and the walkthrough is the major feature of most strategy guides.

There are many, many "strategy guides" out there, however: real-world books on tactics and flying http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

If you need help with any aspect of Il*2:FB, then this forum is all the "Strategy Guide" you'll need. Ask away.

Check out the Sturmovik Essentials thread above. There are lots of good references in there.

Love the forums, the web sites, all that stuff is good. The game itself and all that other great stuff, is on computer. Love computers. Love books though, no power supply needed, no refresh rate worrying my eyes, a tangible, tactile, page-turning thing. All your hunting around starts and ends at the contents page, it'll never crash or need upgrading so you can read it or look at it. Love books.

Thanks for the links Extreme one, look forward to those missions. Mate, my printer is out of black ink. But yes, I have one and I can replace the cartridge. Finding the right stuff to print though? Give me a book, or better yet, write one and I'll print it out! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The IL2 Guide is a .pdf file. You can download it and read it any time, or print it out a topic at a time. "On Demand" printing.

What's wrong with good old fashioned books that were really written on the subject of air combat manuevering?

You want a manual ? I'll *give* you a manual !

lt. Cmdr Shaw's Fighter Combat

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0870210599/qid=1084027904/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3__i3_xgl14/002-6750846-0925626?v=glance&s=books

He stops short of including the aerodynamic calculations, but he'll go through everything else. I read a few pages now and then to try and distill a few ACM tips. It's hardcore and very real. It's also only $28 at amazon nowadays, a bargain for a Naval Institute Press hardcover.

Two IL-2 players have reviews up on the page linked above, check 'em out.

Veteran - Bermuda Triangle Expeditionary Force. 1993-1951.

The information is spread out, not in one book. you don't HAVE to print it but you can. Just grab (save to HD) the site pages you find useful although don't go posting them without permission which may well account for why the info isn't all in one place.

Come on up to www.wingwalkers.org, (http://www.wingwalkers.org,) we have such content available. Click on the WW shield to access the main page.
