View Full Version : MAX LAG as a Console command option?

I was thinking today that it would be very convenient if Hosts could adjust MAX LAG through the console and allow clients to display the server settings as well.

This would be a great benefit where it's important to know MAX LAG is being used and what values it is set to. Yes, we do have the newest additional anti-cheat measures with V1.22 and we'll be getting even more in the Ace's EP, but this would give MAX LAG visual evidence, like the speedchecks added to the conf.ini display now, ie 5% - 10sec...etc.

Beneficial? Or Meh, not needed?

I still feel this will give Hosts more flexibility and allow for tournaments to verify the use of MAX LAG where required.

The only other way to tell is use the "Speed Gxxx" program, set at a certain timing and use it to verify a certain level of MAX LAG upon joining the server. The former is much more preferred to the latter.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

nearMaxLagTime=2.0
cheaterWarningDelay=5.0
cheaterWarningNum=-1

Did you try with set command in console ?

set farMaxLagTime 10

I tried a few different ways to type it in, but how am I going to verify it's set, if I can't access the MAX LAG settings through the console to see if they changed?

The conf.ini file wasn't changing as I tried different Set commands. I may be doing something wrong or overlooking, but when I use the ? to bring up the list of commands, I don't see any access to MAX LAG or viewing current settings of it.

It would be convenient to not have to shut down the server to check or change MAX LAG settings. Just my little thing that I want for FB.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

It would be nice if they added a menu of hosting commands rather then the console manual type or having to edit the il2fbconfig with notepad, hopefully for BOB. Seems no one is using the checkspeed setting either to stop the "unspeakable cheat"

Um, Hyperion as much as I truly appreciate your input on this subject, I don't understand your last transmission. Please re-transmit message, as I think I remember that English is not your natural tongue and I'm a bit dense. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Now, there's some fine ideain', if'n I ever sawed it. Excellent idea, Lead! The console is a bit cumbersome to use and if you use it in the air online, your controls freeze until you SHIFT-TAB back. A pop-up menu, like in the Full Mission Builder would be a great addition.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Also, this may be possible through some of the excellent third-party GUIs that people have developed for FB use already?

LOL @ "unspeakable cheat".http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Generally speaking, I'm always a bit puzzled about "honest flyers" who want to keep cheat information supressed. (rhetorically) Why? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Who knows this may turn up in the next version of IL2 Manager. It would be a piece of cake for the designers considering what they have done so far.......Hmmm that sounds like it needs to be a sugestion.....

For the dedicated Server, there is a option called maxping works from commandline type "help maxping" to get input values . Values set with "maxping".

Would be nice to have a similar command for LAG settings ingame.

Still looking how you can assign values to objects.

My idea was to set Object values in Game
set $com.maddox.il2.net.(name) value
But when you set something it seems it did only copy the object and actually didnt change the current value.

Dont know if it is at all possible .

Regards,
Hyperion

Thanks for the clarification, Hyperion. I'll mess around some more and see what I can come up with.
