I have a Logitech 3D Extreme Force Feedback stick that I like alot. Although it has a throttle lever, I would like to get a programmable throttle for my left hand instead of using the keyboard. The Logitech stick only has 7 buttons which isn't enough to replace keystrokes. So I'm thinking of getting a X-36 I saw on sale for $59 and just use the USB throttle with the FFB stick. Anyone else have this setup? Is it worth paying more to get the X-45 if all I plan to use is the throttle? Your constructive opinions are valued.

I have an X-36 myself. I've seen the X-45s at BestBuy, and as far as I can tell, the main difference is the color of the plastic that they're made of. I don't believe there's anything functionally different at all between them, but I might be wrong. I actually like the basic black color of the X-36 much better.

The difference between them is the spring the X45 has in the stick. I had the X36 before and got the X45 because of worn. The X36 was had the old gameport also, not good with win XP.

Other than that I don´t know, the X45 isn´t that more expensive, yes?
I would get the X45 if I where you! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Love it!

Hello, I've had X36 for a few years already. First the gameport version, now the usb version. They are great. Between X45 and X36, I like the X36 better. X36 is all black and looks better than multi-colored X45(with lights).

The main difference is in the mechanical design for the sticks. X45 has a large spring in the middle to recenter the stick and is alot stiffer than the X36. X36 has two small springs hidden inside the unit to recenter the stick.

If you're using the FFB stick as your primary joystick, then don't worry about the sticks. As far as I can tell, X45 throttle and X36 throttle are identical right down to the wiring,(except for the appearance).

Hope it helped. Goodluck.
