This thread really isn't that big of a deal, but I got to thinking, while flying my P-47D-10 in IL-2FB, that this game has the potential to be the game of all games for years to come...I mean it is awesome now, but I am talking about its future. Whilst flying my beloved Jug, I got to thinking how cool it would be to be flying it in a dynamic campaign in IL-2 over France in the livery of a U.S. fighter squadron going to take out a bridge with my bazooka tubes, or flying a Hawker Typhoon or Tempest on a dangerous V1 rocket tipping mission (drool), OR taking of out of Ramsgate in a Spit Mk1a on a radar vector to intercept an incoming raid of He-111's. Oh man the possibilies. And because this is IL-2 forgotten battles, how about the forgotten battles of the mediterranean (sp?) theatre, flying my Italian MC 202 Folgore over the island of sicily, or flying the P-40 in desert cammo of one of the RAF or US sqauds. I just love WW2 aviation, and even though there are all the games in the world that are in that genre, this one has me hooked...I just hope someday that this game will be one where you can load it up, select any country that used airpower in WW2 and its historical front, and strap into the fighter they used and go at it. I mean seriously, what other game has the Brewster buffalo in Finnish colors fighting against russian Pe-8 bombers?!?! This game rocks, and if it does become as awesome as I hope it does, I am going to be a lifetime IL-2 Junkie :P Well, just thought I would share my hopeful dreams with you all...I am sure you have your own, lets hear 'em!!!

Cheers

I'll dream with you. I also dream that this game will cover aircraft from the 1930s or earlier all the way to the last of the subsonic jets and unguided missles in the 1950s. One of the beauties of this game and dream is that one can try flying planes against planes that never would have met in history. To me, the winning formula is create the game with historical fact, but allow historical fiction in its use.

I'll take any theatre from WWII as long as the standards we've seen so far are maintained - but I do have a yearning to cross the English Channel at wave-top height in a Whirlwind. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Surprise!!!

A little closer to my dream everyday /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I've been dreaming about a Spanish Civil War air simulator since ever. You know, both contendants had the same planes at first (Nieuport 62 and Bruguet XIX, what a crap of machines), and, after three years, they ended the war flying 109s and I-16s! (With all that is in the way)

It's like watching air combat evolution since WWI to WWII in just a short period. You could see the rise of Luftwaffe and VVS as modern air forces, and all the experiments in ac that they did during the SCW.

It was the FIRST air war with modern fighters involved in massive numbers, and with worthy counterparts.

Just see the list below, and dream with me. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hispano-Nieuport Ni.622
Breguet XIX
Polikarpov I-15 and I-152
Polikarpov I-16
Grumman FF-1
Fiat CR.32
Fiat G.50
Heinkel He 51
Douglas DC-2
Junkers Ju 52
Junkers Ju 86
Junkers Ju 87A/B
Heinkel 111 and Dornier Do 17 (w/o glazed noses!)
Henschel Hs 123
Messerschmitt Bf 109 B/C/D/E
Heinkel He 112
PWS P.9
Hawker (Spanish) Fury
SB-2
SIAI bombers
Potez bombers
Loire and Dewoitine open cockpit fighters... and more!

Dream, dream! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Yeah dux, I have always wanted the Spanish Civil War as well...there is just something about the Biplanes that were used right before the outbreak of WW2 that seem so elegant. They are the highpoint of the early 30s aviation development. Oh the possibilities.

We have got the Zero comming to FB soon!
We have already created 12 Multiplayer Online Coops for the Pacific using FB Maps that display physical characteristics of Pacific Battle Fields.
The Unofficial IL-2 Skins Centre has some of the Best Pacific Skins I have ever seen made for ANY Combat flight Simulation, for Aircraft Models that flew in the Pacific and that are already in FB.

There is nothing wrong with dreaming, we decided to make reality, especialy when we discovered that Oleg himself was helping Sergey to Speed the Japanese Zero Along the way to completion.

How we did it at,

Lancasters.

Lancasters with the Grand Slam bombs.

Lancasters with the Dam Buster bombs.

Dams to blow up with the Lancasters.

Mosquitos.

Lots of Mosquitos.

Pathfinder Mosquitos to mark targets with flares.

Mosquitos with the 6 pounder gun.

Mosquitos with the 4000lb bombs.

Waves of Lancasters and Mosquitos attacking with Spitfires protecting overhead.

Mmmmmm... the RAF.

I don't even know why, but I dream of a Pacific Theatre done to the standards of Oleg and team.

Maybe it's the Island hopping thing, or the Carrier landings, or the Carriers themselves.

Anyway, I think that would be awesome.

Oh! How I would love to get behind the controls of a MC.202 or MC.200 or maybe even a G.50 or CR.32!! I can see it now....cruising over the beautiful landscape of southern Italy or Sicily...flying over Rome..the colleseum..the roman ruins..all modeled for us to see......(slowly drooling on keyboard)...escorting SM.79's on torpedo runs in the mediteranian. Shooting down hurricanes and spits! WOW WEE! Go Regia Aeronautica!

Well, I think all that stuff is coming actually. I know the tempest is almost done (thanks to hammerd and Alex) a V1 is moddeled and I believe will be in the next patch, we're getting a map of France, and the spit Mk1 and two others are finished externally and waiting for a cockpit. Not to mention the upcoming flyable P-51's, P-38's, zeros, G.50, Me-163, Ta-152, Ju-88... The list goes on and on.

So I'd say the upcoming patch will make your dreams come true... if it comes out any time soon /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Yeah I know, and I can't wait for the add-on!!! In response to fiestapower, who says we can't have carriers...it can be a difficulty option, if you don't have the balls, there could be an auto-land, but if you feel up to the challenge, then go no holds barred! Oh man, I can't wait for this game to get better. It should be called, Il-2 Complete WW2 Flight Simulator, if it ever gets so big in scope that it includes everything I dream of...this is great.

I want my P-51. With that, I can wait for whatever comes next; carriers, dams, V-1's, B-36's, underground V-2 launching sites, heavy water plants in Norway, whatever. Just send us the Mustang.*

Thank you,

The pacific theatre has to be a must. even though CFS2 tried it, il2 will make it so much better. I wouldn't mind seeing some australian aircraft even though they were of limited numbers, like the boomerang or the wirraway.

XyZspineZyX

They could figure out how to model the carrier if it worked, I mean they already created a superb game, whats to say they can't make it better?

XyZspineZyX

I'd like to see, maybe not for FB but later, A _complete realtime dynamic campaign_, like in Commanche Vs Hokum, or the less-good Eurofighter Typhoon.

In CvsH, there are a mass of missions, all going on at once, and you just jump in and take control of whatever mission you want to fly. AI flys the others as it pleases, tanks cruise around and fight each other, call for air support, scout/attack helos call for fast movers to save their asses, mark targets for arty. It's sweet. Such a shame that noone wants to make realistic combat helo games any more.

Imagine that massive dynamic war in IL2.... drooooool.
Of course, currently I think it would make the game slow down lots, since you can't have more than 30 or so planes without losing FPS. But in the future /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Also:
- Fly recon planes and spot targets?
- The Med
- The pacific, with carriers, is good idea. But after the med.
- The IL-10, and more ground attack missions!
- Perhaps a non-historical 1945-1955 game, including early helos and gyros, mixed power planes, etc?
- Troop concentrations to strafe. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

there is alot i would like to see in the FB of the future - here is some that i believe is kind of achievable in the near future(some have probably been mentioned before):

1) control of pilot after bale out- it would be excellent if you could move the pilot around after he touches down - even if it just to make him run to somewhere where theres some good cover (woods or buildings ) and then dive down. it would be even better if you could get in a truck or something and drive back to base (or hitch a lift !!) - all of the graphics are there - just need the code to control the direction the man moves and control of vehicles.

2) control/animation of pilot after landing - would be nice to see the pilot climb out of the cockpit and maybe walk to a building or something (either animated or controlled)- before the debriefing /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

3) ground troops - would be nice to see groups of soldiers on the ground below - waiting to move forward after youv'e taken out an emplacement with your stuka or IL2 !!

4) erks- just a little idea - on the subject of people again - before take off and after landing an erk walks to your plane and sits on the wing - if your on FR as soon as the erk sits on the wing tip external view becomes enabled so you can move your plane to the correct position - alternatively - no externals but the erk moves one arm or the other or both arms to direct you to the parking area/ runway

5)the usual "other theaters" BoB, Pacific etc etc - what wa said about "every combatant nation" - would be great !!

i know oleg has said something about his next sim having greater land based activites- that would be great - just what is neede to add more realism to an FB style sim /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

How Cool would these be;

Stirling
Wellington
Defiant
Hallifax
Battle
Hampden
Bofort
Swordfish
Fw200
Ju290
Ju89
He115
Me410
He290
Supply dropping in tansport aircraft would add a new dimension as well, landing a Ju52 on a forward airstrip under artillery fire.

IIRC, Oleg stated that for his next sim he was going to concentrate on fewer planes in a different setting(presumably with even more advanced graphics/dm?!).

I don't think that much of what you have proposed is really viable at the mo (it seems to take a huge amount of time to model objects & their physics), but maybe FB could evolve over the years with paid add-ons?

It would be interesting to find out the long term plans for FB.

I know times change, but having a complete list of aircraft that were in WW2 in a flight sim would be the ultimate formula for an awesome game. Granted not many people would want to fly a transport from pt A to pt B, but there still are some weirdos out there (like me) that love everything WW2 aviation, and I would probably fly anything that is put in the game...I know it will most likely not happen, but I just would like to hope that it will. I am not going to whine if it doesn't because I realize how hard it is to make a game such as this, and besides, IL-2:FB is already the holy grail of all flight sims!
