View Full Version : AI Stuka divebombing

I really enjoy the divebombing in the stuka and just last night noticed that the AI doesn't seem to actually dive bomb but fly low and drop their bombs.

I fly 3k meters+ and request that they cover me (i'm the number 1 plane) but they still break off and go low.

I've only been paying attention recently, so they may not do this all the time.

Anybody have any tips on keeping the guys with me?

Hmm, I'm not sure about QMB, but if you load up a single Stuka mission, like the attack on Kronstadt, they do dive bomb. It might have to be scripted I guess.

It all depends on the altitude the Stukas are programmed to bomb, I dont know what the exact alt. is but if it is below a certain mark they level bomb, if its above a certain mark they dive bomb, or vice-versa. Just keep telling your group to rejoin, then when you get near the target are tell them to attack, this should make them divebomb.

Thanks for the advice. It was in the QMB, so it may be different in the campaigns. I'll check into it further.

I started a Stuka campaign, and they dive bombed properly. In fact, that was the only way I found the target...nice to be last in line (only with no Russian fighters around!). I would have had to make a circuit to ID the target properly if I were alone, but those AI guys are _good_, they fly straight to the dive point and go.

This means that all waypoints in that mission are set to 1000 m, and that altitude is too low for dive bombing. Select 1500 m or higher as altitude to make AI Stukas dive.

There shouldn't be a difference between QMB and campaign missions. It's all the same kind of mission files, only the way they get generated is different.
