If pacific is an stand alone as i have heard, it will divide the Il2 community, as some would be in pacific servers, and others in il2fb servers, we shuld stay together like we are today, Make it an add on, i am sure i am not the only one who would love that, to have all planes we have abalible now, plus the pacific ones, and the maps, in a single game, it would be like a dream come true

Oleg once said, about Luthier's standalone, that they would consider the possibility to use it as an add-on, compliant with IL2-FB. He wasn't sure it would be done this way, but at least he had this in mind

I'd be very disappointed if there was a split between FB and any future 'addon' if they both use the same game engine.

One thing lutier said, that they will include new features on the airdinamics i think, i guess it is landing on carriers, the thing is that they would have to do that to all the airfiles of all planes, and that it is alot of work... i would say, it is ok, we wont be landing he111s on the carriers like in cfs1 and cfs2, the point it is to stay together, i wont complain about not been able to land a bf109 on a carrier, just as longest we can fly those planes on the same sky, it would make us happy

FB/Pacific Split:: If so, the Community will fracture into two opposed militant radical camps.

They say at netwings that THE PACIFIC and THE FB can be used by each other. If they are not pulling our legs, we will be Very Happy indeed. A tale of two theaters, Pacific and Euro, make Happy Community. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Please allow me to bump this thread and agree with the comments above to make the Pacific an add-n to FB and not a stand alone Sim. Also agree most exising FB a/c do not need the abitity to land on a carrier but there are a few exceptions.

if the pacific game has everything that FB has but more ..... why not shift

it their is too many fundamental changes neede it will become a version all of its own , i will be buying it

if you cannot join a pacific game because you only have FB you will not be missing out

you still will have your FB game

if you want what the pacific game has ....... then buy it

Add-on or standalone, you will still have to buy it to join new servers. You won't be able to join IL-2:PT servers if you don't have IL-2:PT.

Why would Oleg let all the new planes and objects be downloadable for free?

TO me theres no point in seperating the community making it a stand alone, keep it all in one place as an addon FB which is what makes this game great, different historical theaters and planesets.

I understand there will be changes to the game engine code if there is going to be carriers that we can land on, but hopefully oleg and luthier will make it an addon for fb not a stand alone so we can all stay in the same game. Let the host decide what theater to place charge the price of a stand alone but make it a addon

If FB as it is cannot support aircraft carriers but an new sim made from FB as a base can then it's time for a whole new game for those who want the Pacific theatre. Carriers were that important.

I think much work on ships and boats would also have to be done as well, much work. They are very good in FB but still simplified in many ways and not right for large coordinated fleet operations. the DM's and AA... yi they'd need work! Seaplanes and landing craft and a myriad of vessels... ohhh yes it will take more than FB!

Maybe perhaps there can be all the FB planes able to go over to the new sim? Yah I would pay, but only after I can afford to upgrade my PC 2x, no 3x more and faster! I'm sure it will take time for the new one to be made anyway.

Can anyone post a link to where this news is from?

And if this is possible then there may be some small hope left of an FB-base WWI West Front as well as East Front (sorry but the action there ended too early and wasn't as intense by far!) sim? Oh please... don't forget the Zeppelins!

Maybe it will be land based Pacific, or the Navy planes take off and land on Naval bases on the islands. Or the carriers are static bases. That is good enough for me now!!!

"send_us_ more_flyable_jap_planes" ...as the flight simmers at Wake island Whined.

The real fundamentalist Pacific Sim advance will be Oleg's Pacific at some time after BoB with the newer engine and Oleg will make real carrier ops possible.

From Oleg's reply re: Japanese aircraft on ORR 3/2/04

"K-61 of 3 versions already almost done

But I think they will go all in Pacific project That will be separate sim, not add-on."

So, as of now, the Pac is still a stand-alone.

I hope Pacific as an addon to FB if possible. But if that is not possible so be it...it will still end up on my computer.

I would be perfectly happy if Luthier's project was a stand alone - it would allow a reworking of a few FB models that could be improved, such as the P-40.

If it can be made an add on, all well and good.

If it is standalone, then that's fine too.

It could be that it is easier for Luthier to
split development as there are less testing
issues from the possible interaction of AEP,
AEP patches, etc. if the Pacific game is
standalone.

Of course the Pacific game, if it supports
carriers, would be a good basis for a Med
sim.

I too wish for Luthier's expansion to be an add-on rather than stand alone.

I would happily wait longer, and even pay a bit more to see much of what has been in FB included in Luthier's project whether the two are fully compatible or not. I think the planes are the most important to include, even though they are probably the most work.

What is most important to the rest of you to see carried over?
Everything?
Just the planes?
The maps?
The objects?

I like to use the FMB a lot, so I personally would like to see the planes and maps carried over. The objects would be nice too, but less important. I would be content to go back to FB (now AEP, I'll have to get used to that) to play the FB missions.

Above all, I guess I would like to see the planes carried over the most. The potential for "what if" scenarios and match-ups that couldn't occur historically is just too exciting to ignore, for me at least.

I'll probably buy Luthier's project either way, but I guess now is the time to speak for what I really wish for.
