The only thing that is strange in IL2 FB's multiplayer code is the lack of smooth turns. Whether it is an AI plane or online pilots, planes seem sketchy. WHen planes turn they lack a fluid motion. Those of you have flown CFS2 extensively have probably noticed the difference. Just wondering if anyone ever asked that question to Oleg?

I love this sim, but I hope the planes in Pacific fighters have a more fluid motion when I am dogfighting behind my oponents.

The worst thing about that feel in this sim is the "knife-edge" CoG that planes seem to seesaw around, porpoising from nose to tail. Especially in AI turns, you can see how, at some point, they stop in place and pivot around a point and then move forward on a new vector, without the planes outside inertia keeping the circle broader. I'm not sure how much player flown planes do this, but with all the kludges we've since learned about this system, I don't think anything would surprise me.

There are some AI manuevers that would take wings off player aircraft or mash a pilot to jelly. The roll rates are a bit excessive in the over-all IL-2 FM -way too snappy. CFS2's roll charateristics are closer to realistic standards, but that FM has more problems than IL-2.
To this day, the fastest roll rate of any aircraft ever made is the McDonnel/Douglas A-4 Skyhawk... 720 degrees per second. (That's 2 snap rolls in one second peeps) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif. According to the Skyhawks NATOPS (I have my old copy right here), that manuever is PROHIBITED.

The net code needs a little tweaking IMO. It is not like that offline. You see all kinds ofstrange stuff online that you just dont see offline.

I couldnt agree more with you ripper. With the stick yankers online in fb it resembles cfs2 stalls only with instant recover at any time but looks like the flopping movement of cfs2.

I have never seen any footage of wwii aircraft move like they do in fb, even speed up from 1/2 speed to full.

Even todays modern ultra light aerobatics aircraft which are 1200 pounds with 600-800 hp and todays modern propellar blades, and control surfaces the size of barn doors would get out manuevered by these aircraft.

I would like to see oleg lower the control inputs down alot which makes control realistic for all joysticks.

Also make you have to fight stalls rather then centering the stick and instantly catching and recovery.

Fighting stalls in here makes you actually stall more.

Doubt it will happen this games almost has the final nail in the coffin 2 more patchs 2.03 and then a last patch.

And I respect and agree with you 100% ripper and knowing you have alot of real flight experience.

I love this game and all but oleg will just say you are wrong which comes across very disrespectful with those with experience.

Pretty much all the turn/roll/pitch data for the A/C in this game are more or less accurate, depending on who you ask.

The OP is talking about the unrealistic porposing or aircraft through turns: they follow the correct path but do not look realistic when viewed close up. the wiggle around their COG a bit.

One other thing that I've noticed: the AI likes to make turns using almost no bank but a whole lot of rudder. Was this the norm?

No, and attempting a flat turn like that in a World War Two aircraft was, I'm pretty sure, a quick trip to a spin. In the game, it doesn't do that.
