View Full Version : For Honor crashes upon launching after downloading the update

Well I didn't expect anything like this but when i press PLAY on my For Honor copy in Uplay it return me a critical error saying
"An error occurred
Cannot start game. It seems some files are broken.
Please let Uplay verify your installation directory"

So I did let it verify and it said that's everything is fine. So yeah. I can't play the game. Anyone else?

I have the same problem. I already did the installation directory check + Verification of local files, the error still occurs.

Exactly this. First the error. Then for honor launches and simply closes itself after the splash screen. Ubisoft?

same for me. i was playing about 2 hours ago, closed the game, installed the update and it wont open. does anyone know what to do?

I used to be a game tester professionally. Then I had my test team as a test lead. Something like this really makes me ask myself: "WHO THE **** TESTS THIS GAME?". I'd guess ubisoft is outsourcing the testing to chinese, hence the quality is just wow. But hey at least they are cheap! Just the like p2p connection.

I am also crashing after update. Won't get past the Nvidia splash screen. "An error occured" please verify files.Verifying files does not find a problem. Played fine this morning.

UBISOFT you need a TEST SERVER!!! YOU need players to test your game. IT IS HORRIBLE how things have ended up this way. Why do u grief your players. Just don't make no sense.

Now when I think of it, I am also losing payed champion status. Makes me a little more mad. Hope it's fixed soon. Can we at least get some kind of acknowledgement from Ubisoft Rep that this issue is being investigated?

No issues...I wonder if these people with these problems are all of the cheaters that play the game..It's not rocket science you getting an error because you're files were modified..But if they were untouched you would have no issues like me. People walked right into a trap, And they all let us know here too. Thanks.

Haha, yep, I bet that is it. We are all cheaters :P files are not modified in any way... They verify just fine. It just crashes with a generic error.

You're assuming people cheat, based on what exactly? Re-read the comments, the file verification process doesn't even work.

I already reinstalled the game. it did not help. Ubisoft ****** big time this time. FIX IT NOW or face legal consequences. I lost my money on that game.

I stand by my opinion that they went for chinese instead. Indians would most likely find the game breaking crash on launch before rolling the 1.06

As far as I remember, I saw a ****load of indian names in the testing and QA teams, and as you know since you work in the field, companies already subcontract large parts of the coding, but also the services and customer support there since many years

Wow, really? This threat is as old as computer games, but did it work anytime (except some veeery few edge cases)?

Oh and there is a saying like 'Never play on Patch-Day' - I guess the younger ones just don't know it yet, so I leave it here. Thank me later.

P.S.: Please read EULA / License Agreement. You cannot sue Ubi because you have a little downtime...

If you haven't done so, please send a message over to support (http://support.ubi.com) with your Uplay logs. That should help us track down the issue.

Send the logs with the ticket... btw is useless to reinstall the game, don't even try... you're gonna waste your time and bandwith, it's not a real integrity file problem... at least nothing we can fix on our end

Here's how i fixed the issue on my end. I understand it may be different for others but you may want to try this.

I ran the Verify Files option, it detected an issue and asked me to repair.
I clicked "Repair".
I was prompted that Uplay had an issue and had to shutdown.
Once i restarted Uplay, the For Honor page had a "Download Button" instead of a "Play"
Clicked "Download"
After download game works.

Same problem with for honor here. Also verified the game files in Uplay. Didn't work.

If you haven't done so, please send a message over to support (http://support.ubi.com) with your Uplay logs. That should help us track down the issue.

You can find the logs to send at C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\logs

Same here ... got home, downloaded the update and got this message when im trying to start the game:

An error occured!

Cannot start game. It seems some files are broken.
Please let Uplay verify your installation directory.

I let the launcher check on my files and it did say that there were broken files found. I clicked repair, tried it again and the same message poped up.

Additionally after i close the message the game attempts to start but crashes after the ubisoft logo intro when trying to establish a connection.

Hope, this will be fixed soon. :(

Hi....

i cant launch the game anymore since the update v.106.
Its crashing with an error that my files are broken...verifying files and logging out / in at uplay didnt fixed it.
completly removing it and reinstalling doesnt work either...

I just wondered cause i have the same problem and i opened a ticket to tech support which suggest me to re-install game to C drive but i don't want to. I noticed that many people have already tried to re-install the game so i thought maybe drive can be the case but it is not as i can see.

win 7, nvidia gtx1050, 8 gb RAM, same issue, I bough three copies one for myself and two for my sons, I live in Poland, they in Dubai, they are running on win10 RAdeon, laso 2 GB of VRAM 16 GB RAM. It's not a regional issue, It's not drivers, just installed newest Nvidia Drivers, still same bS, I Re-instralled the game, verified files, turned off overlay, deactivated firewall, ran the app as admin, nothing works. Great job, Ubisoft, good patch.

This has happened to me sometimes before and it happened twice today, after the patch, where I would launch the game on Steam and the process would stop by itself after the logo popup. Then I launched it again and started moving the mouse while the logo was there and the game finally worked.

I could be wrong, but it seems that the process needs to detect some input, like mouse movement, for it to launch, because, most other times, I launch the game and immediately browse on Firefox / do other things while the game loads, and that never failed. If you launch it and take your hands off the keyboard and/or mouse, it doesn't launch properly, I suppose.

btw, my voice chat never worked, I did turn on all options, I have many mics, tried all of them in different configs....and I needed (when it still worked) to change my display to my bigger monitor (main display btw) but it would always start on the small one, never saved this particular setting for some reason :)

this is a AAA game for AAA cash. It's not Beta it's a final release, I want to know when they fire Panjeet, Rakeesh or whoever was in charge of the release of this patch.

Can you rollback the patch already and release it when it's ready, Ubisoft? Many of your paying customers are having their champion status and orders wasted. Not to mention constantly growing trust issues. Please just rollback to 1.05 so that all of the very little players still loyal to the game can actually play. 1) Got this game for free with nvidia card

2) Failed to connect to any multiplayer match due localization/connection issues.

3) Waited for this patch to solve that.

4) Crashed to desktop on launch, now I can't even play single player

Just contacted the support about the issue, they are clueless. They gave me the usual send us some log files we'll look into it and then very politely disconnected me from the chat (before I could actually send them the log files, btw). Interesting QA and interesting customer support, I wonder where those 60$ went exactly, not on servers, not on QA and definitely not on customer support..

If there isn't an hotfix by tomorrow I'll just refund the game and be done with Ubisoft I guess

-They've already replied in this thread and said they're looking into the issue.
-They're actively pursuing the issue on Reddit, probably because it gets more traffic and they therefor can damage control more effectively.

This game behaves in a rly strange way. I have just borrowed my friend's account. Logged in on my pc - showed the game installation directory. Game asked to check file integrity and found some "corruption" (despite on my account - there was no corruption after 3 checks). It fixed those files, but the error was still there. Switched back to my account - game downloaded some 1,9gb (no idea what was that) - error still there...... like seriously.... what the fck!

That's what i noticed..Game didn't update update itself and didn't even ask for it, while servers where updated. So i guess there should be a way to force update a game, but i dunno how =)

No its true i checked properties from my game with a friend and we compared our diffrences and indeed there were 20 sound files in the soundpackages folder missing. He is sending me the files now but he has very poor upload speed so its gonna take a while, but probaly still faster than ubisoft XD

I have the exact same problem. Verifying the files doesn't work as it starts to download the whole game again and the download crashes at some point. I completely uninstalled and re-installed the game from disk again, updated everything and it still doesn't work? So this is a problem with the current patch I guess?

So we are supposed to not play the game for several weeks due to a poor patch??

I payed 60$ for this game so I expect it to ****ing work if I am impatient for waiting 24h for fix to play the game I payed so much for then hell I am impatient, I bought a day before champ status so I expect they will refund it because it's not my fault I can't use it, they said that error occurs on uplay so it's more than 50 and another 50 players, you talk all that **** because you can to log in any time you want, but there are people who have only 1 day in week or two to spend it on gaming and bang there is a crash. Also it doesn't matter how many people occured this problem as long as all of them payed for the game. For first 8h since problem was reported we didn't have any answers from ubi, and we don't know how long till they fix it so we have every right to be pissed and we don't talk about 50 people company, but big ****ing ubisoft.

So if you are working in company like this, you should know that there should be some guys responsible for testing.
Believe me, its not okay when such a big company like Ubisoft relaese patch that actually breaks the whole game. It's not Alpha, not even Beta. That game is officially up for 2 month.

Highly doubt you are even a software developer, even if you are, you must be one of the worst developers in the software development market and a big mistake for companies to even hire you or you just simply smoke your way through. Why?

A gaming company such as Ubisoft is not a small company, it is huge enough to be considered an MNC. Software are usually tested rigorously before patches or installations are pushed to the clients/customers.
We are discussing about a huge company with sufficient resources and capabilities.
Customers do not need to care about the complexity and difficulty of a software, they want it to work and work better. It is the duty of the software company to ensure their software are stable and working for "Paid" customers.
So, if you do not see the need of testing software before releasing it, then I think you are the bug and the problem in the software industry with zero passion in developing quality software for others.

Sorry all - just wanted to update you all . So it looks like we've isolated the issue and are currently in the process of generating a fix. We'll finish developing the fix and put it through testing tonight and it should release early tomorrow. Hopefully this will fix all the crashing problems.
I can't apologize enough for all the inconvenience this has caused all of you, and truly appreciate your patience and understanding. I hope you'll bear with us for just a bit longer and soon this should all be fixed.

I buy 3 day champion status 1 day before 1.06 arrive because i have time to level my LB but now all is lost Champion status/daily-other exp orders/Steel GG UBI for lose 2000 steel for Champion status and 7000-8000 steel from 2 days of playing.

All those guys trash talking about me and my skills: this only strengthens my view on you as salty little brats who have nothing else to do in their life other than playing video games. The insults I received are beyond every common behaviour, just like all those rants about Ubi itself.

Am I a Uplay PC User? Yes.
Do I have the Login error? No.
Would I care if I had it? No - because I know that it takes time to bugfix something that only affects a small percentage of Users. Instead of going crazy and trashtalk in the forum I would rather help them by sending my Log and then do something else.

I'm sure all people with Champion Status will get a compensation. This is what they already did before when something broke.

To all those people saying that no big company can afford to have a major bug in their software: in which world are you living? I want to go there, too! I remember major issues with several days until fixing in many many Triple A titles like WoW, Overwatch, Wildstar, League of Legends and such...

Edit: Oh, and not only games are affected by major bugs or serious security issues. Just think of Heartbleed, Samsungs hard-drive encryption, or Windows Patches which broke the whole Operating System.

Dear Ubi,
I had a day of and a planned to play good game. Unfortunately your good game was not available for me due to this bagged patch. That why I had to buy DS3 Delux for 60 EUR and make my day little bit fun. Could you please add an Iron to my account as a compesation for this. I think that equivalent of 60EURs is 60K of iron coins.

PS: hope the problem will be desolved tomorrow morninng. DS3 looks like not so good so I planning to buy one more good game instead.

I found a workaround: i entered the uplay account with a friend account, wich was able to play the game. The game asked me to download 1.8gb of files (the 20 sound files missing) and the game now works like a charm. best guess is that the patch corrupted the actual uplay account, making it anable to identify the missing files. If u have a friend wich is ablee to play, ask them, it works.

It's a temporary measure, but at least this way we don't have to wait god knows how much for a fix, when if they just check the sound files and give us a link to download the missin one, it would been so much faster....

Are you sure you want to download the missing files from a person you don't know? Just curious, because I wouldn't due to security issues. I don't want to make false allegations, but just think about Trojans or corrupted Files which could lead to a banned Account...
