The only warbirds I can see are a P-40 and a B-24, however there might be more. The movie is basically SciFi, in a universe that seems kinda like a cross between Crimson Skies and Buck Rodgers. Don't expect any historical accuracy, but expect it to have some pretty good action scenes. It comes out on my birthday too!

Not like you'd probably expect it.

Anyone who's going to the movie to see a serious WWII based movie isn't going for the right reasons. Sky Captain was originally a comic book. I know a few people who read the comics and are very excited about seeing the movie...its got a unique style and flare to it. The P-40 was THE American fighter in 1940 and it was quite a symbol so thats why it probably made its way into comics and into this movie.

But please...go if you want a scifi/comic book/retro movie...not a war movie.

I'll go see it just for the aerial scenes... it DOES look alot like Crimson Skies thoug. In fact zi thik that is where Crimson Skies came from.. the idea I mean.

yeah i know they ripped a lot of their plane designs off of the Germans in Crimson Skies, not mainstream planes but like strange prototypes and such.
