I recently put together a mission in FMB with Bf109s making an early morning attack on a Russian airfield with four I-16s readying for takeoff. Just imagine my surprise when I replayed the mission and took a look at it from the Russian perspective. The first three I-16s were reduced to smoldering hulks when the fourth started taking hits from another strafing run. At that point the Russian pilot obviously (and intelligently) decided he'd had enough and made a hasty exit, as shown in this photo.

But that's not all! The engine on the plane was still running and the I-16 gradually started rolling down the runway, plowing through the wreckage, having its wings sheared off, then caught on fire and careened off the side where it too blew up. Now I have to give the designers credit when something like this can happen in a game!

My passion is to fly, nothing beats it, nothing can compare to it, free as a bird. Bird of prey.

That's what happens when you fly this simmulator....sometimes you catch yourself laughing alone !! Alwalls a big time of fun !!

Never seen this before...but when i'm doing some mission at the quick mission builder I've seen the planes (friendly ones ) crashing .One day I was beeing chased by two planes and I did a hammerhead trying to loose then and they just ran into me BIG BOON !! (and a good laught to !)

More than once I've had friendlies crash into one another. A bit of a pain when you're depending on combat back-up!

Yes, but while annoying its not unrealistic. Midair collisions where common in the heat of battle in WW2.

About after 30 minutes I puked all over my airplane. I said to myself "Man, you made a big mistake." -Charles 'Chuck' Yeager, regards his first flight

I should have qualified. The collisions between friendlies were not in combat, but simply while flying straight and level towards the target with no enemy immediately in sight!

I know about combat collisions having done a few myself. I'm sure that's realistic enough.
