Sorry, if as been asked before, but I was wandering if it will be possible to take off with the Jug from AC.

And also, will catapults be modeled???

Good question..
I assume, or atleast I hope, that placing planes on a carrier for a dog fight room will be much like it is now, where all planes are selectable http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
That way we can try taking the Jug off from the carrier.. coz you sure as hell aint gonna be able to get it down!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
I think more likely though that only carrier operational planes will be selectable for the carrier

btw I don't believe that catapults were used to get the 47s in the air.. although I may be wrong http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Looks like 7th AF ferry to Saipan, 23 June, 1945 (from other pictures I have in IMPACT.

Actually, I have a picture of a different P-47 with same squadron markings hooked up to a cat on that CV. They were embarked on 2 CVEs.

This page has a photo of a P-47 about to launch from a deck. The info next to the photo says it is a catapult launch.

They were catapulted!

Do you see the twin wire?

Any Army planes that were ferried to a land base by carrier probably took off with lite fuel loads. Just enough for the one way trip from carrier to land base (20-40 Miles)

Latico,

Just curious, both the Jugs taking off in those pics have centerline tanks. Any idea why? Maybe bases were farther inland?

No I do not beleive placing Army planes taking off AC would make this game any better .They were not build for Carrier duty and that would make this Simulator just a game instead of a sereous WWII Simulator.I would rather have other planes waiting to take off and see sailor weaving their cap as I fly off deck than having improbable Army planes taking off deck. Thats what I like about your product. The amount of detail to approximate reality. Thats what makes it so special. Thank you

They are no fuel tanks, Slater. But personnal stuff container. Toothbrush, soap, socks...

They are both plane from the 318FG, 73 and 333FS, taking off from (among others) USS Manily Bay to Saipan airfields recently ceized by the Marines.

Have a look HERE! (http://www.web-birds.com/7th/318/318th.htm)
