What gives?

I can't get to the bombsight. I can get to the bombardier *station* in a TB-3 by toggling through stations; I see the bombsight machine in front of me and to the left, but that's as close as I get to looking through it.. In the He111 all I ever get is various gunner positions. Do I have to go to a different "Cockpit" instead of doing a Hop Crew Stations command?

I have a key command assigned to Bomber view but I never get the sight.

Also, I noticed my mouse does not move the swivel guns; it used to. I can't find anything in the Controls that even mentions slaving the guns to the mouse (or not).

Can someone help me jog my memory?

Bombsight = Shift-F1 from position 2.
Swivel Gun = Turn off autopilot control of gunner.

That g**d**** useless Shf+F1 once again makes an appearance to annoy and confuse.

lol stiglr it is a bit of a funny set up but i got the key reassigned on my joy stick which helps alot bombing and dogfighting. You do make me wonder though , much as you complain about this game you have very trivial questions. not to offend you or anything I just think its odd.well S~ good luck and good hunting

How trivial is it, really? I looked in the Control section of the game setup, assigned a view for gunsight, went into the game, hit that command and nothing happens.

You shouldn't need to invoke another command to get the gunsight, should you?

As for Shft+F1, this idiotic thing has been complicating everyone's lives ever since it's been put in the game. It's pretty much undocumented (or underdocumented, when you consider it's effects), and every few weeks, somebody comes in and asks "why is my 109 gunsight half off the glass"? It is NOT obvious what is "wrong" there.

This case is just as stupid. If anything, you should have to push a command to get the "tourist view" of the bombardier position, since it has little in-game utility. Why does one GO to the bombsight view, anyway? To see a pencil roll up and down a table when the plane banks? No, to line up a bombdrop. You shouldn't need an extra, extraaneous command to get the view you want.

Well, its not the most streamlined method possible, but neither is it the end of the world.

Anyway, been enjoying TR 0.62?

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - G√ľnther Rall

It's done for two reasons that I can think of:

1.) Seats are assigned by number, Seat 1 is always Pilot, Seat 2 (Rear Gunner on an Il2/Stuka etc) but Bombardier on TB3... However leaving Bombsight off for that position means that if you cycle through seats, you'll always get the First Person view. You only get Bombsight if you really want it as it is now, rather than if you press key 2 instead of 3 by mistake...

2.) And this is probably the main reason, the TB3 has no elevatable bombsight. Therefore, if you are playing on "Full Real" settings, you'll need to look out of the nose from bombardier position to make final approach adjustments before quickly looking into the bomb sight. You can rush from pilot to bombardier to sight, but it really makes more sense to be already there, as the bombardier gets a better forward and below view. My only regret is that I can't climb over the sight and press my nose against the glass...

Yeah, in quick action, which I use to try out new procedures like bombing, you get an airstart.

Still haven't figured how to start a multi-engine plane, though.

Is there a Shf+F1 in there I don't know about?

And yes, negative, I have in fact been enjoying Targetware 0.62 (came out the same day as the official IL-2 patch release, and coincided with a heavy bout of 3d modeling; you can say I was conflicted!). Lots of hapless P-38 drivers overestimating their abilities and their plane's. Just as crunchy there as they are here.
Them Hellkitties are a handful, though. They just don't respect the 7,7mm gun!!!

There are a couple of things that still need addressing, but overall, it's coming along nicely.

No, you have to take the effort(If you have it)to ::GASP:: Bind a key for engine select. And maybe, you should bind a key for gunsight view when in German planes, Maybe you'll hit something, and not need me and my Magic He-162 to shoot down that Yak-3 on your tail, eh?

Oh, there are no fighter pilots down in hell...
Oh, there are no fighter pilots down in hell...
The whole damn place is full of queers, navigators, and bombadiers...
