New USAAF campaign coming soon - I finished the 25th mission last night (D-Day - June 6th 1944) and sent the latest installment to the Beta Testers.

Hello mates!

Question to ExtremeOne (and others who make these great campaigns) - Do you have any online campaigns suitable for squad play? We're presently playing a 15-coop mission campaign made by BeoWolf.

Hi,

Try the newcampaign add-on for FB called Operation: Fall Blau (Code Blue).
It's designed by the same guy who created Operation: Barbarossa.

It recreates the battles that took place between the Russian and German forces in the Southern section of the Eastern front.

I'm playing it at the moment. It's varied and very immersive. The briefings are detailed and help to draw you into the unfolding battle. In fact, it feels like you are taking part in an unfolding story!

Also, the manual that comes with the expansion, sets the tone. It also offers hints and tips on playing not only the add-on, but also Forgotten Battles itself.

There are some great tips included in the manual with regard to the way the A.I. behaves and 'thinks'.

All in all, it's a great campaign expansion that follows in the spirit of Operation: Barbarossa.

Go here for more info:http://www.x1software.de/

Cheers,

Baron!

Extreme_One, will your new USAAF campaign overrite the old one or is it seperate and incorporates the AEP aircraft ? Will you make a campaign that has the AEP aircraft ?

No not dynamic (I do like Dynamic campaigns too - but they can be a little repetetive wouldn't you agree?)

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif Mine will be historical - focussing on the 1st USAAF Squadron equipped with the P-51 (I'm not going to say anymore yet!)

Well, I always fly the Soviet Campaign using DCG ( I did AEP`s DGEN for a while, but that really does feel like I`m going nowhere. It`s too predictable. After about the 30th mission it was enough).

In DCG I fly the Hurricane, Spitfire, I16, P39 and lagg3 predominantly. The missions are pretty varied depending on aircraft chosen and not predictable, sometimes you are attacked, other times nothing happens.

I like the fact that I can attack targets of opportunity (like passing convoys, tanks) and know that it`s buggering up the German war effort(destroy convoys, they can`t resupply, destry tanks, they can`t hold locations, etc).

At the moment I`ve diverted from my set mission to continuously attack a nearby LW airfield in our P39s, hitting them as they take off and smashing their AAA (which can`t be resupplied until they get a new convoy to it, which I don`t intend to allow). Of course their are other fights going on, so I have to mostly keep to my objectives.

Another MAJOR fact for me is that the LW can WIN, although depending on the year resources will be more weighed to either the Soviets or LW, so earlier years favour the LW.

All this can be done for ALLied European Campaigns stuff which uses the planes from AEP too now.

Sometimes, it can be boring when there`s nothing in your area, but I like the realism of that.

There you go.

That sounds pretty cool. There's a lot more potential for variety in the Eastern Front because most Soviet fighters can carry bombs and there are a lot more planes available. I've never been able to get my head around DCG, maybe I'll give it another go.
