View Full Version : Do you find the Me-262 an easy kill on off line campaigns?

I have been playing a lot of offline campaign (BOE , P-47 December 1944).

I play that if I die I start over so I am not exaggerating when I say I have played 20+ campaigns the past month.

It seems I have caught a bunch of 262s (In fact 3 in one mission as they attempted to come in over their air field just like in the real stories). I can understand the ones I caught over the field, as they were low on energy but what about the others I have encountered in conditions where the 262 should of ruled?

They do not seem to be able to out run my P-47, only one that I can remember just lit it up the engines and never looked back. The rest kind of of turn here and there until they meet their eventual demise.

Also a 2 second burst is enough to blow them to pieces. their engines catch easily on fire.

Anyway I thought this legendary bird would put up a better fight.

I am not complaining , I worship the game and Oleg's team (can't wait for PF). I am just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences.

Because the AI is dumber than a bag of hammers. It's a different story with a human at the controls.

ROFL! One of my favorite lines in that movie! George Klooney really played his part well, and it was Sooooooo off character for him! Great movie!

And yes, the AI IS dumber than a bag full of hammers..... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

They are easy kills because they don't fly effective energy tactics, wasting their speed in tight turns and not diving or climbing from threats. Not only that, but they bail out as soon as an engine catches fire, meaning a single burst often puts the plane out of action.

The AI suck at energy fighting, it's the same in all sims. The more important it is that a particular plane conserve energy, the easier it is to beat when flown by AI.

For mission building Me~262 shows its intercept advantages if the mission sculptor has them target bombers. AI also show good strength in on pass ground attack followed by high speed low altitude escape.

In old DOS Flanker 1.0 the AI was great at energy fighting, going vertical as much as horizontal. That was some great dogfight AI back in 1995 on my AMD 486 DX4~100 CPU.

Okay, so modern Hollywood jets have the thrust to show horizontal and vertical are the same energy fighting.

the J8A is more than a match for the 262! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif it's SO slow it's brilliant!

Stay inside their turning to avoid the MK (never cross a ME's 12oclock) and spray&pray with your P47's guns....
That way it is easy to take out the AI ME262.

Even better: try to fly one!
Get into the QMB and select it, take 4 P47 as opponents ... that is even an easier victory (just stay high and fast).

BTW: The MK-cannon has a certain nailgun-feeling, I really like it

The engines are incredibly fragile. One hit will cause them to detonate.

All planes ,off line, are easy to bring down.

If brains were leather, the AI wouldn't have enough to sattle a mesqito.

And that's sayen something.

Yes, I find the 262s quite easy to dispatch off line. I've only faced a few online, and they weren't much better. Although I'd hate to see someone who is good with that machine.

The engines are fragile, and they seem to explode with just one or two hits from relatively light MGs.
