Great feel in a few planes I tried, the spitIX is one of them..µ. but I have a small problem with it:

I can't change radiator aperture on Spitfire IXe

Same here...

Other than that, things are looking pretty good. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I don't think you could change it on the real Spit either.

well, if it's confirmed, then: no bug http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Its NOT a bug. The MKIX only had Auto radiator operation.

(There was a Ground test switch that allowed the Flap to be fully opened).

what about the airbrake on the b-25? mine has the function mapped but i see no effect when it's in use. If my memory serves, it didn't have one.

This is all very well, but is the auto-rad actually working? it overheats ridiculously quickly, then it's almost impossible to cool off unless you cruise around at half throttle.

it seems to overheat quite rapidly, but i flew it on a desert map, and there, all planes overheated really fast...

maybe if we tried it on a winter map? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Tried on the Normandy map, wasn't much better... *shrug*. One thing Merlins were notorious for was being able to be driven at full throttle for hours.

LOL , it is exactly the opposite , Merlin was known for overheating quickly http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

Depends on the installation... I don't know about the IX specifically, though. I still can't imagine it was as bad as it's modelled.

Lancasters could run theirs on full throttle for hours, but that's a rather different installation http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

As far I know, the overheating problem was a problem just on the ground. My father was an Italian Air Force pilot and flew Fiat G.59 that was a G.55 with a RR Merlin engine and he told me that once started the Merlin was prone to overheating quickly on the ground. Sometimes, if the tower was not quick enough to give green light to take off, they had to switch off and had to change airplane while once in the air overheating was not a problem at all, even during the hot sardinian summer.

for quick infos about the G.59:

Oleg gave flight regimes and times for the Spit VB's, I'd expect he has the same kind of data on the IX's.

Besides overheat is not solely about boost or throttle at all. RPM makes a great difference as does mixture. RPM may mean more than throttle in this case. It does with 109's and 190's.

And how come you have a flyable B-25 and i don't?!

Another bug - i cannot start a new campaign for Me-262a.

Well, if it's not a bug, why have I to fly 35% throttle to refresh my engine (Spit IX LF) on the desert map? Why staying under 3000 RPM my engine overheat in 3-5 minutes?

On winter maps, it doesn't overheat at all... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif. Haven't tried normal summer maps though.

If you never go over 90% prop pitch it's manageable on temperate maps... it still feels like the auto radiator is jammed closed, but it's manageable.
