View Full Version : Fw 190 Fuel Leak Bug?

With the late arrival of the 190's complex damage model, some bugs have become apparent. One of which is the well known gunsight bug, which has been fixed except for the 152. I am pretty convinced that the fuel leaks with this aircraft are plagued with a bug. Correct me if I am wrong, but don't the 190s have self sealing fuel tanks? I won't say that they never seal, but it is a rare occasion indeed. The 190's leaks will drain your tank dry far more often than any other plane. A small leak will dump all of your fuel in a couple minutes. I'm also concerned about the severity of the leak. How fast should it be draining? This track shows a couple of machine gun rounds causing a fuel leak that empties my tank at a rate of 2 liters per second. I'm not an expert on the matter, but that seems pretty drastic for self sealing tanks, doesn't it?

Alot of planes have this bug actually. Not sure how much they have changed in recent patches. The P-47 used to not seal at all. Now it does better. The P-38 doesn't do very well.

To be honest, despite quite a bit of time on the FW190 I haven't had this problem. I'll try and re-create the same issue. I do know that it doesn't have alot of flight time in comparison to the opposition...but thats historical.

I just finished a series of tests with the P-38. Out of 10 fuel leaks, 2 did not stop. The other 8 closed up anywhere between 10 seconds and 5 minutes. The Fw 190 had 7 out of 10 leaks not stop. The leak rate for the P-38 was 0.910 liters per second. The Fw 190, at 1.963 liters per second, leaks more than twice as fast.

depends how the hole is big. Low calibre machine gun bullet hole should be sealed, but 20mm.. hmmm

well it takes 4 minutes and 4 secends to drain the fuel of an FW190A(4-5 or 6 don't remember now) to ZERO, started with 100% fuel, got ONE cal 0.303 hit.
The "hole" did not SEAL.

track is aviable here(LINK) (http://home.arcor.de/sebastianleitiger/FB/Tracks/190%20fuel%20leak.zip)

BTW this is recorded with the leaked 2.02

Could this info/track please be sent to Oleg at il2beta@1c.ru ? I know there was a problem with Yaks and maybe some others not sealing fuel tank leaks before. Maybe the 190 has some variation of this bug with no self-sealing or simply too much leaking out too quickly from small caliber weapons.

This bug is quite apparent to me.

Pls send the track to Oleg so there would be one less bug in the game. Thanks
