I've seen AEP in the store and I already have most of the planes/maps, free downloads of course, I see the others and will eventually buy this expansion, the question is this:
What is BOE? Does it contain all stuff on AEP? Should I buy AEP? It's only $40. I just don't want to buy it and then buy something else with the same stuff, what should I do. (not that I'm indecisive)As well, will BOE be available soon?

Whats BOE? Are you talking about BOB? If so, thats a completly new game and wont be out for awhile. So yes, buy AEP.

AEP = FB 2.0 + skins missions maps planes
BOE = skins missions maps

Its almost a no brainer.

BOE is an addon with skins campaigns etc - and is worth buying

AEP is the official expansion pack and is very shortly gonna be essential to play the game online - plus you get some lovely new planes.

Buy both!

BOE will be getting a patch to bring it up to AEP.

I guess that means that AEP would have priority but BOE is on my radar screen for sure.

So, is BOE an unofficial add-on to AEP? And it's contents are missions, campaigns and skins? If so, are any of the campaigns for online use? Thanks! S!

BOE does have an online campaign system similer to VEF2 I think. But I don't have it so I don't know really. I just remember that was one of its main features advertised on the VEF forums.

If you ABSOLUTELY have to make a choice, i'd say it boils down to wether you play online or not. BOE is more suitedfor offline play, while AEP is more suited for online. Those aregeneralisations though. Buying both is probably your best bet http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So, is BOE a separate install, a different game? Or does it integrate with FB like AEP did? Thanks! S!

BOE seamlessy integrates into FB. You just go into FB as normal and in the Campaigns area are new missions. It also has great OFFLINE DYNAMIC missions for US and LW aircraft over Europe. I like the manual cos it actually explains what the `No Instant Mission Success` REALLY does- for the first time. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

BOE installs over FB 1.22 (pre ACE) or 2.0 (w/ ACE). It integrates with FB and gives you a new Western front offline campaign. You can fly 5 or 6 campaigns for USAAF of LW. Pre Invasion - Normandy, Invasion - Normandy, Berlin 1944, Balaton 1944, Ardennes 1944/45 & Berlin 1945.

I have already added the P-38 in a fighter campaign and the new P-51s. Right now I am trying to figure out how to add a British Channel campaign and don't see any problem. I just figured out how to add the Spitfire to an American campaign this morning and I will be flying it this afternoon. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Starshoy will be releasing a patch soon that will most likely include all of the ACE planes and maybe a British campaign too??. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

Or just go to

www.lowengrin.com (http://www.lowengrin.com)

Paul has the best darn campaign generator out there. He has already gotten it up and running with AEP and is looking for people to run this latest to check for bugs etc.

He has an established presence in the community and his website has just come up due to the dedication of the DCG users.

The forum is full of helpful hints and tips to get the most out of the AEP. It has a full fit fucntion with IL2, IL2FB, and works with AEP now. It can compeletly replace your offline campaign and Paul is already coming out with a NGEN replacement for the new AEP online campaign.

Look at it and try it out. If you want to fly Spits and Hawks over the channel, follow the link to the RAF and USAFF campaign add-ons that work completly with AEP and DCG.

The nice thing is it manages your skins, gives you a whole new aspect of the game and best of all...

IT'S FREE!!!

When is BoE scheduled for release in N. America? I thought I read around here that it was the 12th. Is that correct? That would be tomorrow! I am very eager to get this.

I got my BoE on saturday. I ordered it from Just Flight about 10 days prior. You will need the AEP. Once its released all over it will be a matter of time before everyone has it. BoE is good too. Get both if you can. Boe you can wait for. The AEP is a must.

Just to make it even clearer -

AEP is a must haVE unless you don't want to have the 29 "extra" planes (above and beyond v1.22) that come with it including the venerable Spitfire (4 versions), the BF-110G2 (a beauty!), the P-38 (J and L variants), the King Cobra, the YP-80, etc. etc, Plus six new AI airccraft, plus 10 more flyables in a patch from Oleg, plus a few more single missions and dynamic campaigns.

BOE in my opinion is a very optional set of Western missions and skins. It has no new planes. You can probably get something close to this in the community by using Paul Lowengrin's Dynamic Campaign generator (DCG) and IL2 skins (psssst! - all for free!). BOE may be more user friendly and more comprehensive ( I don't have it), and so it may be worth your while, but I will leave that for others to review. Starshoy has mentioned that there will be a patch to add new missions for the AEP planes when it becomes available in Europe.

I will probably end up getting both.
