This thing Rules! At 8km TA is faster than anything with props except Fb109Z . But it handles much better than the 109Z and handles better than any other plane at that altitude--and Ta turns and still has energy to climb fast even higher. I don't know about all the Sea Level Ta Whining, but I apologize to the Ta Whiners for letting out the Secret they are trying to keep from other onwhine players. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Thanks for the Fb109Z too. Will make excellent historical "what if" campaign possibilities. Aussum!

Well, I finally read the Ta Object Viewer...
quote:
Disadvantages: As it was designed for high altitude combat, its low altitude performance was less than stellar.

Ta power/mass ratio worse than Dora at least a low level. Dunno about high. There is a blurb about engine "at altitude" and it says about 3000m whatever that is. 3000hp mistake? Also, I am thinking that long wing must have some flight performance costs in the dense low level air. But it PAYS off at high level. Need variable geometry wings. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I agree--for the treetop level internet onwhine dogfighters, we need clipped wing Ta~152C and others like Bearcat and Yak3U. They clipped the wings of Zero and Spit for same reason. But up high what we have is top of the line dogfighter. I got into a flat spin at 8km and fell to 3km before getting out. Awsum!

I suggest we ask Oleg for clipped wing "C" version if we insist on dogfighting at low level. Hopefully its just literally clipping the wings on External model. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif But then they have to program new FM too.

"I don't know about all the Sea Level Ta Whining"

I don't know if the TA-152 low-altitude whiners ever looked at the wings of this aircraft. Hehoo, this aircraft has very big wings http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Ta H has more wing and 190hp less than a D-9 '45. The Dora is supposed to do some 610-620 on the deck and 590-600 with 2050 hp. Now add some drag, and it should do some 570-575kph. In FB it's much less with ~550, but that can be fixed.

More of a problem is the overheating... but I read somewhere that Oleg will fix it. The Jumo 213E-1 has an charge air cooler, so it should overheat even less than the Dora. The Ta-152 manual states 30mins use of Start%Notleistung (1750hp), while Steig&Kampfleistung is sustainable until you're dry already.

As I read that stuff about the clipped wings here. I really wonder about the Spits. The Ta-152 gets a ~5 seconds worse turn time with clipped wings (from H to C), but the Spits turn & climb identically somehow...

Now for climb: More wing = more lift = less AoA. This should help out low speed climb. In FB it doesn't help so much.

Just my 2βΆ

In FB it doesn't help so much.

Try high altitude climb, say start at 8km and goto 9km. I am thinking that is where the Ta wing was made for. I also am thinking I am the only one in the AEP community to try Ta at high level and having Fun. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
