Hi all,

I have posted before but didnt get the info i needed so I'll do again.
Here are my Questions:

1.What is the best tactics to use for the CW version of the spitfire? Is it TnB or BnZ???

2.What are the best charactoristics of the Spitfire CW Verstion?

3.How do I Exploit the Above?

4.Do you know any good manuvers for the spitfire Ixc Cw?

Cheers

clipped wings version was a bit faster and rolled better in low altitudes, however it turned worse especially in higher alts. CW were often mated with low-alt engines. They were to counter Fw190s in speed and roll.

The best tactic to use with the Cow Wolf (CW). I would go for the Turn 'n Burn (TnB) rather then the Bum 'n Zoom (BnZ) tactic.

TnB is not a tactic.

It's exactly what it says, you turn and you burn away your energy, till you end up on the deck, low and slow.

Hi,

Try one and see how many planes you bag (plan a)
Then try the other way (plan b)

a = planes bagged with plan a.
b = planes bagged with plan b.

if b > a, use plan b
if a > b, use plan a
if a = b, use either
if a = b = 0, try a different plane

More seriously, I always climb in this aircraft and use bnz tactics knowing full well that you can mix it by tnb'ing too (especially against 190s). It's quite a versatile mount and surprisingly fast at altitude, also.

I think it's best characteristics are that it's quite forgiving, it turns well, it dives well and it's pretty fast with good climb.
On the downside, there is never quite enough cannon ammo!

Cheers,
Norris

CC while TnB is fun, it can end up with you getting whacked..
If you have the alit advantage use it!! exploit your better potential position... energy fight with him, dont burn it all away... no plane is strictly one thing...

just fly it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

oh and use manual pitch, bootfulls of rudder when u at highspeed, and u can fake combat flaps by balencing your f and v presses http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

You can put your flaps on a slider and simulate combat flaps too, but I find this not too good except at high speed. This spit doesn't out turn much except the Fw...and almost all planes out turn the Fw.

Best tactics I've used with the Spit are energy tactics...long sustained turns while climbing slightly. Not even a 43/44 109 can out do a spit and once you get above 6500 meters you got him...you'd be suprised how fast you get to that altitude from 2500 meters in a fight! Although I'll clarify, I don't usually use a CW spit so the climb rate and high altitude performance may not be as good, but you should still have an advantage below 4000 meters in sustained spiral climbs and such. The spit can hang on its prop pretty good too.
