OMG. I just bought Far Cry. It's amazing. I have been playing ALL DAY. Ubi really has a hit with this one. This is the best FPS I have played since Half Life. Check it out guys...it's awesome!!!

Well Awsome might be a little bit too much, but I get a good chuckel out of it. I ran over three guys with a jeep and we all went over a cliff. They were all stuck to the front of the jeep yelling how they were gona kick my *** the whole way down to the water. I jumped out just before impact and swam away. They all got killed.

I thought the demo rather sucked. But that's just me.

Not a bad game but the AI have ears like bats. Get within 100 metres crawling slow and it`s Iheard something, whats that!
Then it has on my
system at least FPS problems worse than Lomac. I finally got frames over 4 in the japanese carrier by turning water to low lights to low and then it jumped to 90 plus FPS.
Ok my system ain`t great Amd 2600, 512 366 ram, nvidia 5200 but AEP is not a problem with a lot higher settings.

You can't compare FC's engine to AEP's, they're as different as the games themselves.

I like FarCry a lot, it allows you to improvise sometimes which is great.
It also runs very well on my machine: 30-40 fps (XP, 2Ghz 1gig ram gforce4ti4600), I've got everything set to medium @ 1280x1024, (no AA or AS) and it looks gorgeous already! To be honest I don't feel like I'm missing out on the graphics by using these settings at all.
Well worth it.

Very nice graphics, that appear to have fooled the entire netgaming community into thinking the game is good.

The demo is poor. The AI whacks you unrealistically quickly on Normal Diff. If that is the strength of it, I won't part with the cash for the real thing, pretty eye-candy or no.

Tough AI and pretty pics do not a great game make. I'd prefer some immersion, a decent story (FC is apparently missing big style in the story category) and fun play.

I suspect the drop-dead-gorgeous visuals are removing the reviewers' objectivity. Maybe the demo is a poor guide, though. I doubt it. HL2/D3 roll on.

Agreed, Maxhome!

The graphics are outstanding and the physics, well, they are okay, but nothing special, to be honest, looking at UT2003/2004.

But then, what's really good about the graphics is the number of polygons and the dense atmosphere. But apart from that, well, the jungle looks like a picture from AndyWarhole, with all the much too intense colours or from a fake prospect.
The AI is nice, well, okay. HalfLife's bots jumped behind cover, too. That's nothing really special. Overall, the bots are still very scripted, as are the missions. Stand in one place and you'll be fire uppon walk another way and all's fine. I hope we were beyond that.
The so-called story is, well, odd, but that you can accomplish them by shooting'em all up - that's quake2.
Weapons and realism is ridiculous. The enemies and the players look like they were three-dimensional-comic-heroes, packed with muscles and haveing a really bad day, judging from their square faced grin.
Didn't test it in full, but hopefully, your conceilment doesn't dissapear, once the viewer goes beyond a certain distance. It worked fine against snipers in the demo. =/

I don't know why, after all these nice looking games, that bored everybody after 20 hours play, still so many guys freak out about nice graphics. I don't care if tiny bugs are modelled, if the content of the game is thin as paper.

Sorry, but I'm not impressed. Maybe I've played too many of those games, over the years, to be blinded by some superficial cosmetics.
