View Full Version : Why no 'no-cockpit' view for online flyable AI planes?

just been playing on a server which had AI planes enabled to be flyable -
good fun - but the thing is it's nigh on impossible to shoot anything down as it's exceedingly hard to aim without a gunsight, therefore all it ever can be is good fun - you can't fly the AI planes and expect to get any/many kills or compete with those in 'proper' planes (unless your really, really good good).

i understand that most AI planes are mainly AI as no-one has modelled the cockpit - and also the fm may not be totally done.

Why though can we not fly it in no-cockpit view - i know alot of people don't like it but many servers fly with it enabled - and being able to do that - we would be able to fly the AI planes with a chance of competing seriously

has this issue ever been addressed before or does this idea not appeal to anyone

thoughts anyone ?

Its been thought of before, good idea... but i wouldn't think so. i would like that though.

"The Eyeties are comparatively easy to shoot down. Oh, they're brave enough. In fact, I think the Eyeties have more courage than the Germans, but their tactics aren't so good. They are very good gliders, but they try to do clever acrobatics and looping. But they will stick it even if things are going against them, where as the Jerries will run." Beurling in Malta Spitfire

why not?

i guess it's not 'officially' supported as the ai planes are not 'officially' flyable and it's all done with scripts (i think) but it couldn't be hard for someone(1C person) to just put a P.O.V on the front of an AI plane - with the gunsight on - surely not?
