OK heres my spec: 3.06ghz p4 , 1gb ram , mobility radeon 9000 128mb graphics card.
My problem is i get these random hang-ups no matter what settings i use they keep happening. i know that laptops are fully supported but if theres any ideas you guys have it would be a life saver cos this is an amazing game and id like to play it for more that 10 mins at a time Thx.

Have you been to the Farcry support site?
(Answer ID: 9484)

Is the video memory shared? I doubt it, but it could be...

btw, It would be nice to have more infomation, that is, after you have done everything from the support site of course. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Note the informative ATi9000 problems thread stickied to the top of the forum. Mind you laptops are a different breed. They really shouldn't have drivers changes like a desktop PC (particulary if OEM specific).

i have been to the far cry support and checked i have the latest drivers and tweaked the game by using the far cry tweak guide. This fixed most occurances but when helicopters are around even far away the game hangs for ages and i have to stare at the ground to regain some fourm of control. the mobility drivers of the radeon 9000 do not use the same drivers and can only be obtained off the laptop manufactures website.

While I was wondering around somewhere else, I think I may have something.

The problem, it seems, is to do with dynamic lighting;

montyno5, i have the same video card on a laptop, and have upgraded the drivers to the latest omega ones. I don't think that is what makes the difference though. Turning off dynamic lighting - you can do this from the console, the 'tilde' key, in 'devmode' - does make an amazing difference. it is like i have a new computer! some loss of graphic niceties, but you can always turn it on to admire the scenery when the action is not too hectic. The command in the console is \e_dynamic_light 0 to turn it off, 1 to turn it on.
Good luck!
