Most of these are easy questions so you should get bored fast.

1. What fighter in WWII had the most Machine Guns?

2. What fighter in WWII had the most Cannons?

3. What fighter in FB is the heaviest?

4. What fighter in FB was the lightest?

Sorry for the simplicity of these questions. I dont know about the rest of you but Im sort of bored of the "What plane is this" threads.

Real quick guesses:

1. Hurricane IIb with 12 machine guns.

2. Hmmm. Some had 4 cannons like Hurricane IIc, FW-190, Me-262 and Tempest/Typhoon. Maybe some version of the Bf-110. I know Italians were making a 5 20mm cannon version of the Fiat G.55, but I don't think any went into production.

3. My guess is Bf-110 at around almost 12,000 pounds or so empty or the Me 210/410 at about 16,000 pounds or so empty if you consider it a fighter.

4. My guess is PZL. P.11

Hurricane MKIIb with twelve.
-
- 2. What fighter in WWII had the most Cannons?

The USA planned a heavy/nightfighter as a succesor of the P61 black widow with 6(!) 37mm guns. It never went into production. by fas the heaviest armament used in WWII was with the me-262, it had 4X 30mm guns.

Might be the P47.
-
- 4. What fighter in FB was the lightest?

MiG-3? or I-153's

my provisional answers:

1. What fighter in WWII had the most Machine Guns?

Hurricane MKIIb 12 .303in (7.7mm).

2. What fighter in WWII had the most Cannons?
-
many fighters had four cannons of various configurations - apparently there was a protype spit(22- edit sorry 22 redesignated 23) with 6 20mm Cannons but this was a prototype and possibly post-war
i can't remember but if MG 131's or MG151/20 are classed as cannons (probably MG's though!!) then FW 190 OR Ta152 with MK108 thru propeller hub, and 4 MG 151/20 -20mm in wings

3. What fighter in FB is the heaviest?

Me210

4. What fighter in FB was the lightest?

depending on what type they are in fb - (i can't remember)

either the I-16 or Pzl-p11 thingy

How about this:

"The Lockheed-Vega conversion of a B-17F aimed at producing a flying gun platform lead to the XB-40, followed by some twenty YB40s. This version was the ultimate Fortress in a sense, intended as a 'convoy fighter' to bring guns to bear on opposing fighters (it carried no bomb load). Armament varied from one airframe to another but the YB40 was indeed a veritable 'Fortress', a typical warload being as many as 30 weapons ranging from 0.30in (7.62mm) to 20mm cannon. YB-40s escorted B-17s on combat missions beginning with a raid on St Nazaire in May 1943. The aeroplanes flew from Alconbury and other locations , achieving some success, but their added weight prevented them from staying in formation with B-17 bombers. This interesting variant of the Fortress eventually ended up stateside, carrying out a training role as the TB-40".

From 'US Bombers of World War Two' by Robert F. Dorr

And yes, that's up to 30 (!) guns.

A26 had x16 .50s. 8 M2s in the nose, 8 M2s in gunpacks under the wings. Imagine being at the recieving end of that /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif .

With the AI gunners in FB you'd be an ace in no time at all. Difficult to imagine doing an Immelman in an over-weight B-17 though /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
