Kills, nothing is more satisfying than shooting someone down, especially when their AC explodes, and you say "yea! that's a Telegram!!" but I must admit I still enjoy a high score.

A good fight. Even if there's only one good fight while I'm playing, I'm happy when I quit.

Well, since I prefer VEF...neither. My side winning and me surviving are what's important. Barring winning then just surviving is the next best. If I happen to shoot down a bad guy during a mission then that's just gravy.

In scripted servers and DF rooms, I'm just looking to make a decient show of it. People who are into the whole points thing are just point *****s. They're the ones who pop shots into the plane you just flamed and take credit for it. If you find those types on a server the best thing to do if they're on your side is to just slide into their bullet stream and then crash. They HATE that http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

What I like is seeing an enemy heavy bomber being shredded by my 20mm or 23mm cannons. Sometimes after a wing comes off, the pilot refuses to bail and the gunners keep shooting me while plunging to their deaths: that adds a nice little bit of drama. Then dodging the enemy fighters in my shotup plane to make a safe landing at home base. The points disappear forever as soon as I disconnect, but the memories last a lifetime.

Kills,

I still remember the night I was hosting a DF map and the other side started using TB-3's to hit our base. I hopped up in am IL-2m3 and those 37mm's and rockets tore into the TB-3's and I got three of the incoming bombers before I got shot down by the one escort... that was an awesome fight.

Wow, good question. It seems like this question is kinda quering the conerns of people who complain about kill stealing, like me. In my case, i hate nothing worse than battlin a good opponent all the way from 2.5-3K down to treetop or wherever for three or four minutes to finally get in favorable position for some cat who was just lurking and providing no support or teamwork zooms in and gets credit. If i took all that time to battle a worthy pilot, I want everbody including him to know who finally bested him. I don't mind sharing credit if there is actual teamwork going on, but almost 3 outta 5 times, this thief will either ignore any other threat in the vincinity to zoom in front of me for my easy kill, leaving me to be immediately jumped and downed by the enemy he ignored. Or he will be so busy chiseling he will collide with me, giving me negative points. I usually don't care about points; I'll fly until the enemy or ammo is gone, but i can't stand seeing a negative score cuz some bloodthirsty, reckless pilot flys into me.
but maybe i'm just ranting http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

I dont play FB online anymore and events like that certainly contributed to that but mostly I just tired of it. I tried the single player campaign and I was hooked like a fish on a line.

When I have gone online I find myself thinking about the single player and I think the only thing I miss about online is the great ntrks that can be made with real people.

Still, it is a small matter http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Kills
Meaning victory in the air, whether he goes home smoking, flies himself into the ground or gets put in a bad spot where someone else kills him (as long as I know I did the work to get him there, or shared the fight with wingman).

It is nice to look up and see 3000 points though http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Kills.

Points are meaningless, most people that you see online that have points ranging in the thousands are just BnZ'ing lone fighters that are flying down on the deck.

They simply kill 1 fighter, fly back to base to collect a 100 points then repeat the process over and over again.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

I agree with SmokeJaguar on this one. Just finished testing the good old Swallow's nest mission #1 with the P-51 made flyable. It was the longest but best yet against an AI 190. Long climbing chases, reversals. I chase him into cloud / after cloud he's chasing me. Snap shots, little pieces flying off. The AI 190 does a long spiral almost to the ground and it ends up as a low level dogfight. After it was over .. the long flight home and park next to some P-47s after making one of those landings you don't mind watching again. Very immersive and it's all on .ntrk for future enjoyment when I'm having a bad day.

Been thinking about the .ntrk lately. It adds another depth to the sim experience where you can get the feeling of the after combat briefings where instead waving your arms around and describing how the action went you can watch it from different viewpoints on the monitor.

Ya gotta love it.

It's not really slang, just something I wrote. I'm not sure how it works everywhere, but in the US during WWII when a soldier was killed, the family received a telegram from the war dept. (Usually through western union).

Kills are more important to me. I play online just for the experience. I could care less if someone steals my kill. If they are a loser to the point that they feel some accomplishment in destroying a plane I've already crippled, then more power to 'em. It doesn't really bother me. Sometimes I think people get a bit too worked up over things like this.

I guess I would have to say kills, but they mean nothing if my wingman doesn't come back with me and the mission was a failure. So I am going to say completeing a successful mission is number one to me, besides I shoot at lots of targets clearing people, not always getting the kill. But I cleared that pilot, that is what matters to me.

Good fights, win or loose they are very satisfying and a real show of flying tallent.

What I hate is being shot by opponents when having bailed from a damaged plane. I think it is very rude but can be circumvented by Esc ASAP so that you remove the pilot from the online situation and respawn. I suppose you have to do what you have to but manners can be lacking online some times.
