Just bought original IL2 a couple of weeks back and am addicted ( what have I been doing for 3 yrs!). Is it worth my while buying FB/AEP to keep me occupied untill PF arrives? What is the new content like?
Bearing this in mind I really want to play online, but only have crappy dial up connection. Any one have any comments about how the game plays on dial up?

I'd say get FB/AEP. If you wish you will be able to mix FP and FB/AEP together, if not then you don't have to.

If you just get FB, I think FP/FB mix will require the full FB/AEP.

Fb and AEP are two seperate purchases. Each has its own patches. However AEP gets installed on top of FB so you need that first before you get AEP.Most people online fly AEP version 2.04.You can get version 2.01 and 2.04(no 2.02 or 2.03)as free downloads.

I played online with a 56k modem for a year without any problem. You might need a slower codec on some of the new voice com programs. Some of the older voice com programs are more 56k friendly but do not sound as good.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

You can get both FB & AEP in one package - it's called FB Gold.

FB and AEP is worth every cent spent on them-definitely buy them. If you are avid simmer-believe me, it will not only keep you occupied-it will make you addicted.
