Hi guys,

I am curently using FRAPS for movie creation. But I heard nice thing about the AVI renderer in Lomac. So some question:

1. Is it normal that I cannot set the RESOLUTION in the combo box (there is nothing there)?

2. I saw that the METHOD combobox offer me to compress the movie (like with DivX5.1 codec). Can I do that there or it's preferable to not compress it and do that later?

3. Is it true that if you use the lockon renderer, you can set all the graphics to the MAX setting without affecting the movie FPS?

1. Yes it's normal, it will record at what your screen resolution is set to in game.

2. Compressing while rendering really slows the rendering down. I prefer to render uncompressed, beware of the insanely huge file sizes though. I have a movie I'm working on that is almost 5 minutes long. It's 9 gigs uncompressed at 640x480 res. When you compress using DivX 5.1 it's about 23mb at high quality compression. It looks awesome full screen too.

3. This is true. I'll post a short clip (later) so you can see how it looks.

Hey BSR,

how do you open that 9 gig file. I generated a 2.6 gig and I am not able to open it with Media Player or even Movie Maker. I heard it's something related to AVI 1.0.

Do you compress the final movie (after editing in Premiere/Movie Maker) or you compress every small part and stick them together later?

I make my clips separate, uncompressed. I run them thru Main Actor (a movie editor) and export them raw (uncompressed) again, but this time at 640x480 res (my in game res is 1280x1024). I then sequence my clips together, do whatever transitions I want and then I run it thru Dr. DivX to compress it w/their 5.1.1. I don't like the way Main Actor uses the DivX codecs, so this extra step is necessary IMHO. As an aside I have Premiere 6.0 and it's way too touchy for me, it will crash if you make a mistake that n00bs like I sometimes make. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif A huge waste of money!!! Anyhow, I'm just rendering my final sequences. It's difficult getting the shots I want of LGB's dropping from F18's. But I only have to add 30 seconds or so to my 5 minute movie and add another 20 seconds of credits (give or take). The quality of the finished product is awesome and is no larger than some of the movies I've seen released. The trick is to render the clips w/all details set to high, the final product looks better when compressed.

Stay tuned for other tidbits, I have some killer "Matrix" type scenes in the movie and I was fortunate to get some shots that I haven't seen yet in some of the great movies that I've watched. One in particular is the ejected canopy "bouncing" off of the camera lens. You gotta see it to believe it, I was fortunate that the editor let me record that shot after I set it up.

Edited.......

I trimmed this clip out of a compressed unfinished portion of the movie. The final quality will be higher, as I can't seem to find a tool that will trim w/out having to compress a second time. It's too late for me to wait for 9 megs to unzip from Winrar, so here's what I have for ya.

I always have to laugh at those that find they need to "comment" on someone else's work. They act like they're paying to d/l this stuff. Let's see what you have since you're so critical.

You have to appreciate the time factor for doing a matrix clip, more effort than I would want to put in.
Nice clip ruggbutt.
I cant wait to see the clip LOCsta is working on. It should be a killer flic. Different style than whats come out so far.
