Just got tired of a chicken BF 109 G2 chicken run from me at up to 6000 feet where I couldn´t get my P 40. And I thought americans plane shine at high altitude. However my engine/prop management don´t shine. Overall I am being tired of being outrunned all the time.

Am running without complex engine management but I should still be able to lean my fuel and such? Is there any good site out there that explains how each airplane should be run most efficiently for speed and such?

P40 isn't a good climber. If you are going after a G-2, you've gotta get him from a higher altitude. Otherwise, disengage and try and run.

If you do use CEM (complex engines), then use (and you have to set key binds) the turbocharger settings to your advantage (1 for low, 2 for high). Play with the fuel mix (I think its lower percentage for higher alt), and use combat flaps to try and help in a climbing game.

In general, Bf 109's climb well and turn well. So with a P40, you need to have energy advantage (ie. height). With other planes, there are other tactics.

Yes it climbs really poor but even when I got up to the same altitude he still was far faster than me. I know that the AI is always faster than you even when you got the same airplane but. I tried to set the supercharger to next stage but either it had already done so by automatic or else I don´t got any clue it kicked in if the P 40 had one.

So the fuel mixture should be lower than 100 % the higher you go? How about prop pitch?

the P-40 dosen't have a supercharger. It was a mediium altitude plane and a constant speed prop. The CEM is not as complex as the other american planes.

Oh, so the P 40 really is that bad? The only thing good about it seems to be it´s firepower...

Was the P 40 really a sequel to the P 39??? from what I can remember the P 39 had higher performance...
