View Full Version : Big Problems With CH Pedals

Hey all - I recently added a set of CH pedals to g with my X-45. They istalled OK but the problem is the new aileron axis, (X ID2) is WAY too sensitive. Just touching the stick causes sgnificant aileron movement making it almost impossible to fly level. And since the game defaults to the rudders as primary controller there's no way to set stick deadzones or response curves. Is there anyway to change controller ranking so that the X-45 becomes the default? I installed the X-45 with drivers only, no programming software, and the pedals I just plugged in. Or if there's another way to adjust the stick. Any help would be appreciated.

I have this exact same problem with my Nostromo and X45. The Nostromo is always ID1, no matter what I change, and the X45 behaves like it has NO refined response at all. Sadly, I've found no solution for this in the past year and a half. The only way I can play is to just disconnect my Nostromo, and the X45 reverts to ID1 again.

LOMAC, and FS2004 don't have this problem for me, only FB.

Others here use this same combo, maybe they can help.

I guess that makes me the third person with this problem. I haven't tried the Saitek profiling software yet, but I don't think it does sensitivity settings--just button assignments.

I really shouldn't have to resort to that, anyway...

In Win98 you CAN change the controller assignments. In XP there doesn't seem to be a tab for it. Also there's a section in the FB config file called rts_joystick. You may be able to configure joystick settings there, but as an experiment I changed all the X axis settings there to 0, just to see what would happen, and it didn't change anything.

you have to go into your conf.ini file to adust them.

Check out this thread. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?q=Y&a=tpc&s=400102&f=49310655&m=608101321&p=1

T_O_A_D, Thanx for the link to that thread. Very informative. I bookmarked it and copied some to wordpad so I could print and read. I had tried changing some numbers in that rts_joystick file but since I didn't know what I was doing I was changing the wrong ones. So if I have a second device that reads roll and pitch as X axis ID2 and Y Axis ID2 I assume the lines in the rts i'm after are 1X2 and 1Y2?

My post about 3 or 4 from the bottom of that thread has it set out in detail, but the short form is

ID#1
Roll: 1X
Pitch: 1Y
Yaw: 1RZ

ID#2
Roll: 1X1
Pitch: 1Y1
Yaw: 1RZ1

ID#3
Roll: 1X2
Pitch: 1Y2
Yaw: 1RZ2

etc...

Thank you very much! That did the trick. No wonder the roll was over sensitive those values in the config file were set to 100's all the way across - Thanx again!

Yeah, this is great info that many people don't seem to know about. I was one of them for a while, I just started flying IL-2 with pedals so I didnt have any means to compare, and got used to the stick having all the sensitivity sliders maxed out, now I just fly that way, though im sure I might have less fatigue and better aim if I were to lower the curves. . . and im sure formation flight in the 190 would be a tad smoother too!

this is all my way of a long winded bump!

FYI, for anyone with CH Products devices, there is a great new forum that addresses many issues and has some great information and interaction with CH personnel. Thanks to Revvin_UK for making it happen. Go to www.ch-hangar.com/forum (http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum)

Can't offer advice, but just wanted to say, this is why the Cougar and TM RCS is superior, all 3 controls have 1 ID for the OS. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Hmm, what happens when you connect another USB device that demands ID 1? What decides who gets top billing?

Also, thanks for the info on the ID listings Tully, I always hated editing wondering which ID was on which line.

Ya - I have a Cougar and the fact that the whole setup reads as one device and is backward compatible is very cool. Also it's progamability is probably second to none. But for me it always seemed like I was wrestling with that stick to try and hold it steady in the center. I put the X-45 back in and seems smoother for me.

Which of these are the ID for the rotaries on the X45? My rotaries are waaay too sensitive. Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

In the thread that TOAD provided a link for, I've listed what every line in my [rts_joystick] section relates too (I use the X45), take a peek there.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm not sure you'll be able to get the effect you want on the rotaries without sacrificing range of control response though http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

CH Controls can be combined into one virtual device just as the Cougar can so are compatible with older games such as Falcon 4.0, Flanker 2 etc.
